As the title suggests, this forty-five minute lesson might be useful for any Media BTECs or as an introduction (for KS3/KS4) to what representation is/means. It focuses on McDonald’s and could be used with the award winning documentary “Supersize Me”.

NOTE - This is an altered version of my A-Level scheme of work. This scheme has levels as opposed to grades and has been redesigned to suit a GCSE cohort. Some of the more advanced theories have been removed and some of the tasks have been replaced with more suitable options for younger students. A fully loaded unit of work with enough content to last well over 15 hours in the classroom, including: - Individual Power-Point lessons with objectives, success criteria mapped to grades/levels, starter activity, main tasks with examples, plenary assessments, extension activities for further learning and extensive teachers notes - Comprehensive terminology list covering every element of the topic required by students - A variety of ‘in topic’ assessments to track progress and learning - Practical and written assessment activities for the end of the topic - A time saving and innovative ‘symbol marking’ feedback system - Home learning questions - Assessment mark sheet - Revision and practice lessons This scheme covers the topic of Media Representation as part of the theoretical framework as outlined by AQA in their latest specification, but can just as easily serve any exam board and a variety of courses. There are extensive references to the academic theories relevant to Media Representation and detailed teachers notes on each slide to help your own understanding and delivery. These notes include possible answers and responses to the tasks set out in the lessons and help to make this as close to a “teach-by-numbers” experience as possible. All you need to do is read through the lessons beforehand to perfect your delivery. This is s a full scheme of work designed to teach students how to use Adobe Photoshop (CS5). It is created for students with little to no prior knowledge of Photoshop and is good for absolute novices, through to those who wish to develop their skills. Perfect for GCSE, A-Level and BTEC. Examples and specific details relate to the CS5 version but should be easily adaptable for newer versions. The Scheme includes all the resources for each task, tutorials for extra practice, specific skills on blending, editing, fonts, image manipulation, spot removal, colour changing, adjustment layers, masking and much more.

A full unit of work with enough content to last well over 10 hours in the classroom, including: - Individual Power-Point lessons with objectives, success criteria mapped to grades/levels, starter activity, main tasks with examples, plenary assessments, extension activities for further learning and teachers notes - A terminology list covering the topic - Practical and written assessment opportunities embedded within the topic - A time saving and innovative ‘symbol marking’ feedback system - Home learning questions - Assessment mark sheet This is another introductory scheme designed for delivery to Year 9 students or lower ability GCSE classes. Some of the content is very basic and there is no focus on terminology or theory. It covers an introduction to the media by exploring the advertising industry. Lessons cover ideas such as logos, slogans, branding and font choice. This is one of my more basic schemes of work. The other full schemes in my shop are more detailed and come fully loaded with assessment tasks and extra extension activities.
