Statistics: (S2) Normal distribution 4 - Approximation for Binomial Distribution (+ worksheet)

Statistics: (S2) Normal distribution 4 - Approximation for Binomial Distribution (+ worksheet)

This is the fourth of a series of lessons on the normal distribution. It is applicable for S2 in the UK, but international A-Level has this as a part of the S1 specification. 26 slides. This lesson needs to proceed lessons on the binomial and normal distributions, both available as a lesson in my shop. Specifically, this lesson is for teaching when to use the normal distribution as an approximation for a binomial distribution. It looks at why we use and looks in a lot of detail at common mistakes pupil’s make in order for pupil’s to avoid doing it and I have had excellent results on this topic using this resource. I have used the PowerPoint slides to structure the lesson and includes plenty of examples, superb teaching slides with lots of custom animation, keywords, learning objectives, differentiated questions and basic plenary. Statistics: Binomial Distribution 3: Expectation and Variance

Statistics: Binomial Distribution 3: Expectation and Variance

This is a lesson 3 of a great series on the binomial distribution, but a short PowerPoint (9 slides) as there is not a huge amount in this topic (reflected in the price)… it is still a great resource with starter, learning objectives, clear and concise teachings and examples and quick plenary. However, I do highly recommend getting the very thorough first two lessons in the series! The lesson is available as a bundle or complete teaching on this topic. MEI stats 2 power point presentation

This presentation covers the Poisson distribution, The normal distribution, samples and hypothesis testing and Bivariate data. Including approximations and hints and tips. The resource is also extremely useful just before exams if printed out as flash cards to induce mathematical thinking before students enter an exam

Selection of probability presentations showing the learners how to use different probability skills. These presentations are aimed at aimed at GCSE and A level stats. SMART Notebook Express presentations can be used for free by using SMART online or by downloading SMART software, also free, I use it because it allows a more interactive presentation than a powerpoint. Just search 'SMART Notebook Express' and try it with my free SMART resource.

Binomial Distribution

A presentation that shows learners how to use binomial distribution techniques to solve probability questions. It shows learners how to use the binomial formula and the binomial tables and also how to find the mean and variance of binomial distributions. The ultimate Mathematics International Baccalaureate Standard Level Revision Pack

I have split the entire course into 10 lessons (content includes much more!). Each lesson includes a bank of exam questions related to the topics with answers; a PowerPoint; Extra questions; and a 20 minute test. The tests are written from the "Extra questions" so be aware if you are using the "Extra Questions" in class. Easily more than 10 lessons worth but use it as you choose. I revised one lesson, tested (and peer marked) the next lesson and began the revision for the following section. *** 100s of exam questions *** *** 10 revision lesson PowerPoints *** *** 10 mini tests ***

Statistics: Binomial Distribution 1 - Investigation & Introduction

Statistics: Binomial Distribution 1 - Investigation & Introduction

This is a whole lesson (30 sides) doing an investigation, which is fun and to self-discover what the binomial distribution is and introduces the whole topic. It also looks at the notation involved and putting the formula into a general form. This is a fantastic foundation for the next lesson. I like teaching this lesson and every time I have taught it, the pupils love it and has been a really successful way of getting a deep level of understanding. This comes as one of three lessons on the binomial lesson and 4 if you include using the normal approximation. NOTE: please browse my shop for more excellent free and premium resources.
