4 Dance lessons - Chocolate Making

4 Dance lessons - Chocolate Making

Four creative dance lessons covering the key steps in the process of chocolate making. Lesson 1 covers the pods growing on the trees & how they are harvested and fermented. Lesson 2 looks at drying, transporting & roasting. Lesson 3 looks at the winnowing process Lesson 4 covers grinding, mixing & refining the chocolate. Each lesson gives the children endless opportunities to decide how they will respond to the tasks which makes the lessons very inclusive of different abilities and levels of experience, whilst requiring the teacher to simply set the tasks (verbally) & give feedback. There are opportunities for team working and for groups to observe and give feedback. These lessons are very much written with the non specialist in mind, they are in a clear step-by-step format with hints along the way, they also include a suggestion for music that will suit, but please feel free to add your own choice.

Gymnastics lesson plan - Rotations (year 7 lesson 2)

Gymnastics lesson plan - Rotations (year 7 lesson 2)

Gymnastics lesson plan - rotations. This is a comprehensive lesson plan on rotations in gymnastics. This lesson is most suitable for students on their first unit of gymnastics (year 7). The lesson includes: Warm up Prior learning The 3 axis of rotations and examples Independent/teacher led tasks AFL Objectives and levels Organisational points This lesson was created to save time for busy teachers and is made so teachers with little gymnastics experience can teach it just as well as those with lots. You should be able to teach a lesson with minimal preparation and I made these so in most cases they can be just picked up and taught. All lessons have levelled outcomes. The levels are the old national curriculum levels 3-8 however they are easily editable and changeable to your own assessment levels. Each lesson has assessment levels, diagrams, differentiation , clear teaching points, clear task explanations and afl opportunities. This lesson should provide enough tasks for lessons of 40 minutes and above. It follows on from my gymnastics lesson 1- basic shapes(free) . Which you can also use to assess the quality of my work. I also have task cards for rotations which will go really well with this lesson and can be purchased as a bundle here and a free variations in rolls task card here. KS3 Dance Year 7 ‘Rock and Roll’ New and Improved 6 lesson SOW and delivery PowerPoint

KS3 Dance Year 7 ‘Rock and Roll’ New and Improved 6 lesson SOW and delivery PowerPoint

This ‘Rock and Roll’ New and Improved 6 lesson SOW and delivery PowerPoint is for teachers teaching year KS3 dance (ideally year 7 after teaching ‘Intro to Dance’). This is a new and improved version of my previous ‘Rock and Roll’ resource. With this resource comes much improved starter activities emphasising on dance skills and terminology, instructions of how to perform the rock and roll actions, a fresh look and different YouTube clips. Purpose: This is a fun and energetic SOW designed for pupils to have fun while learning performance, choreography and appreciation skills through the Rock and Roll dance style. Pupils will gain and develop basic performance skills through working in pairs to perform a set 16 count hand jive and other Rock and Roll actions: gallops, turns, pancake roll, spring back steps and a side lift. Working in their pairs, students will gain and develop basic choreography skills through the creation of their own 16 count hand jive and their own rock and roll sequence that includes a lift. Appreciation skills are weaved through the SOL during discussion tasks for example, after watching YouTube clips of other dancers performing in a rock and roll dance style. Structure heavily features in this SOW as the completed Rock and Roll dance is structured in a rondo form. Within lessons 3 to 6 there is a strong emphasis on safety when performing lifts as this is the first SOW where pupils will be introduced to lifts. Throughout the SOW pupils will have the opportunity to view each other’s work and provide feedback to improve their own and other’s work. Includes: Detailed 6 lesson (60 min lessons) SOW with: aims, learning outcomes, time scale, resources, key words, level descriptors, lesson calendar, lesson objectives, starter activities (bell tasks), main activities, skills, assessment for learning, differentiation and homework. 6 lesson (60 min per lesson) delivery PowerPoint with: lesson objectives, starter (bell activities), main tasks, talking points, success criteria, YouTube clips, level descriptors etc.

Purpose: This SOW is to be taught right at the beginning of Year 7. Lesson 1 is designed to inform pupils of the dance studio rules and what to expect from their secondary school performance lessons. Throughout this SOW, pupils will gain and develop basic performance skills through working as a whole class to perform a teacher taught phrase that consists of the different dance body actions: jump/elevation, turn, gesture, stillness/balance, travel and transfer of weight. Working in small groups, students will gain and develop basic choreography skills through the creation of their own phrase using the knowledge gained through the performance task and will have the opportunity to view each other’s work and provide feedback to improve their own and other’s work. Throughout this SOL there is an emphasis on safety in the dance studio where pupils will develop knowledge and understanding of basic health and safety requirements for dance. Includes: Detailed 6 lesson (60 min lessons) SOW with: aims, learning outcomes, time scale, resources, key words, level descriptors, lesson calendar, lesson objectives, starter activities (bell tasks), main activities, skills, Assessment learning, differentiation and homework etc. 6 lesson (60 min per lesson) delivery PowerPoint with: lesson objectives, starters (bell activities), main tasks, talking points, success criteria, level descriptors etc. 1 lesson cover work worksheet exercise.

Compositional aspects of gymnastics sequences/routines

Compositional aspects of gymnastics sequences/routines

This is one powerpoint slide on what is needed to compose a gymnastics routine. It is fully editable and I have embeded the font into the powerpoint. Suggestions for use: At the beginning of a unit so students know how much goes into a routine After students have “finished” their routine - film students/get another student to watch and focus on one aspect then improve that aspect before moving onto the next As a whole group in a sequence lesson - concentrate on one aspect at a time Give to higher ability students before they start their routines so they can work all the aspects in when they are creating their routine Give to no doers so they can evaluate and improve other students work This is the compositional aspects I have mentioned in my assessment criteria sheet.
