This booklet provides a comprehensive treatment of mathematical modelling. It begins with thorough explanation and practice of basic algebraic techniques, such as solving equations, factorizing and changing the subject of a formula. It then covers linear, quadratic, exponential and trigonometric models. Numerous real-life examples are used to illustrate the techniques with an emphasis on the interpretation of mathematical results. Also covered are the concepts of reduction to linear form using logarithms and inverse functions. There are extensive exercises provided to enable students to practise the techniques learned. 16 Homework tasks are included at the end of the booklet. Aimed at higher level GCSE students, this is a set of worksheets I use to teach my top set how to use the Sine, Cosine and Tangent graphs. There are three worksheets and a display poster which I have always used as a refresher. Useful Trig Values - this is the display sheet which reminds pupils to learn the value of Sin 30°, cos 45° etc. The Sine Of Any Angle - Starts with the graph of y = sin(x) between 0° and 360° and asks students to find the angle whose sine is 0.5 etc. - no point in asking them to find the sine of 150 though as the calculator will do this. The Cosine Of Any Angle - obviously the same idea as the first sheet but using Cosine. The Tangent Of Any Angle - and the same again but using Tan graph. Answer Sheet

At the end of a topic they have a topic mat from which to revise from. I also photocopy them on different coloured paper so they act as dividers in students’ folders.
