This is the history of the phone for the last 50 years. It has a notebook showing how the phone has changed over each decade since 1967. It goes from the red telephone box to the iPhone. There are activities to play and a phone visual board. It shows the different phones of the last 50 years. It has activities to decide if the phone is from the past or now. It links to Youtube which shows the evolution of the telephone. It has visual images to support it. This links to our history unit of work. It was made for special needs and would be useful for young mainstream students.

Sensory sports activities for PMLD

This session has been developed to support and refine functional hand use and appropriate receptive and expressive communication strategies of students with SLD and PMLD through the medium of sport. The story uses repetition and rhyme to encourage early anticipation skills through changes in tone of voice. As you will see on the slides the part where ‘Ready set’ is repeated should start as a whisper and get louder and louder to support this anticipation. The story gives a range of suggested activities which can be adapted according to what resources are available in your setting.

“Box Writing” may be used to encourage the development of visual perceptual skills. Children observe the size and shape of each letter and ascertain how the words fit into the corresponding boxes. The dots in the boxes allow kids to practice letter formation by starting at the start point using the visual cue of a starting dot.
