Sensory sports activities for PMLD

Sensory sports activities for PMLD

This session has been developed to support and refine functional hand use and appropriate receptive and expressive communication strategies of students with SLD and PMLD through the medium of sport. The story uses repetition and rhyme to encourage early anticipation skills through changes in tone of voice. As you will see on the slides the part where ‘Ready set’ is repeated should start as a whisper and get louder and louder to support this anticipation. The story gives a range of suggested activities which can be adapted according to what resources are available in your setting.

Personal Hygiene! A Life Skills/Citizenship lesson for students

In this lesson, students are introduced to good hygiene, and are asked to judge others based on their personal hygiene. This gives them an awareness of their own hygiene levels. They learn the importance of good hygiene, and when they need to practice it, as well as showing them the skills to practice good hygiene with. This lesson has been rated outstanding. Included is the lesson plan for this, which shows differentiation, other tasks you can try, and a step-by step guide to the lesson. There is also a whole lesson powerpoint, and a hygiene activity to the students to complete, discuss and hand in! I am also on hand if you need any tweaks, help, or additional guidance! Enjoy :)

SEND English. Making circular marks with a tool and different grips

SEND English. Making circular marks with a tool and different grips

This is an activity plan that provides ideas to support a SEND pupil in a mainstream class. It has lots of ideas for simple mark making activities and advise on the way in which children learn to grasp and hold mark making tools. It links to PE and Kandinsky's work in art and indicates ways of assessing small steps progress. These activity plans have been developed by teachers for teachers with multi-professional advisory support. SEND-Inspire is an online inclusion resource for educators to include pupils with SEND. Cross-curricular literacy keyword passport and activity book

Cross-curricular literacy keyword passport and activity book

This is a passport that I created using PowerPoint (print off and either staple/bind together or use the book creating function on a photocopier to turn it in to a booklet). It has pages dedicated towards capturing the key words in your subject with a space for students to write the definitions. The second half of the booklet is about capturing key revision information. There are three spaces per page with an activity at the bottom to consolidate all of the information in to a creative format such as a poem, story, drawing, etc.
