Year 7 Summer Homework

Year 7 Summer Homework

This is a booklet based on the i-spy books where students get points for spotting things in and around their homes and beyond. It covers all the chapters from the geog.1 textbook from OUP, and is designed to be a homework project for Year 7 students to complete during the summer holidays. For each item they find they get points and these points lead to house points, merits, credits, stars (whichever reward system your school uses): I even gave students a certificate for completing it. There are 20 pages which can be printed as an A5 booklet or you can choose which pages you want to use as each chapter from the textbook as a set of activities: my version only has 16 pages as there are some chapters that I don’t get time to cover. There is a word puzzle and a place for the students to keep a record of their points as they collect them, I have a place for parents to sign confirmation that students actually did achieve what they say just in case you get a student that makes it up. There are spaces for images, due to copyright I have removed the pictures that I use, but they can easily by added. The only major thing is the Tourist Information key from an OS map: they will need that.

Mining- West Virginia GCSE ENERGY CASE STUDY- AFL and fully scaffolded 6 marker exam Q included!

Title- How does energy consumption affect the landscape? I had already completed the BP oil spill and traditional coal extraction when we completed this lesson. It begins with a GP activity to improve a previous exam Q and builds the Virginia case study through a short clip that I show twice and ends with a contrasting 6 marker. AFL and discussion opportunities throughout. Differentiated and SEN friendly. Thanks, please review if you download :)

Russia beat Saudi Arabia 5-0 in the world cup opening match. Saudi Arabia’s military led a coalition of Arab countries in support of Yemen’s government, attacking the Yemen port city. And an 18th century Chinese vase found in someone’s attic sold for 16 million Euros.
