The pupils have to tally red, blue, green and yellow cars as they fly past in the presentation.
This has proved a popular resource at both schools I have taught, particularly with lower ability classes
This excel spreadsheet can be used to record student's grades. Using a 1-10 system you can record their marks and it will automatically average the grade. If you enter J, K or L in capitals (which is converted into a smiley face) in the effort column it will also average their effort grade. This provides formative feedback and allows progress to be monitored. This is a concept and could easily be adapted for specific use, i.e. Assessment without levels, BTEC etc.
Got fed up of my classroom looking the same and bored of the same rubbish maths posters, so decided to create my own. (First sheet for preview only)
I have created another five posters based on my excellent resources to help reinforce what the pupils are being taught. This little bundle includes five posters that have been DESIGNED TO BE A3 in size, but will come out A4 or A2 if that is your preference.
1. Pie Charts
3. Sets / Venn Diagrams
4. Stem and Leaf
NOTE: Feel free to browse my shop for more excellent free and premium resources and as always please rate and feedback, thanks.
KS 3-Functional Skills-GCSE Foundation. A PowerPoint to introduce learners to the concept of tally charts and bar charts. I have used a space theme throughout, contains
2. Levelled Tally table/bar chart worksheets with a space theme
3. Bar chart template
A total of six papers and solutions.
Three foundation papers
Three Higher papers with overlap from the foundation. Making it easier to assess movements between sets.
The bundle also includes a spreadsheet which makes it easier to
1. collate all the students data
2. identify student weakness either individually, as a class or as a department.
3. give thorough feedback to individual students regarding topics and overall progress.
Finally these questions are not available to students on the internet. Hence no chance of them cheating the night before!
Finally the spreadsheet RAG rates each question per student.
These two spreadsheets have been completed with the three uploaded papers in mind.
There are instructions on how to use the spreadsheet. Once the papers have been marked the students individual scores are placed into the spreadsheet question by question. The teacher can then glance to see which topics are class issues and which topics are just problem areas for one or two.
There is also the facility to print out an overview per student. Each individual question is RAG rated so that it is easy to identify incorrect answers, partially correct answers and full marks.
As I said the spreadsheet is aimed at the three papers I have posted. However it can be modified for other papers used in class. Simply replacing the listed topics an max mark allocation allows the spreadsheet to be used for papers you create or use.
Treasure Hunts promote cooperative learning and engagement by pupils working in pairs to find the correct answer. It can be used as the main lesson activity to determine what learning has taken place and also it is a great revision exercise.
This Treasure Hunt activity has been prepared to practice skills of systematic listing, as seen in the new 9-1 GCSE curriculum. Check out our blog post on the different ways Treasure Hunt cards can be used (link in the resource).
It is differentiated to two levels of difficulty; amber and green and is suitable up to grade 5. It comes complete with instructions, treasure hunt cards and solutions.

A few higher level problems for frequency and grouped frequency tables. Pupils are given averages and asked to fill in the frequency or boundary values. Answers are included in white (change text colour to view). Question 3 does not have a unique solution but gets pupils working well with restrictions.
Useful end of topic summary test + answers. Complete with marking grid to give students easy to read feedback, tips for improvement and extension work.
Great for showing comprehension, then progress if students are given time to make correction or attempt the extension based on teacher feedback.
