This booklet has 21 different exercises with answers covering a broad range of functional topics inspired by GCSE past papers and the topics that my students have often needed practise on, such as interpreting timetables, working out profit, reading electricity/gas meters, distances and speed, working out pay/salary and so on. There is a self-analysis sheet on the front so students can identify what they may need to practise. I have included both the booklet and answer booklet in PDF and also Microsoft Publisher format so modifications can be made if you like.

Disney's 'Up'-themed Compound Shapes Activity

Attached is a floor plan for both the ground and 1st floor of the Ellie & Carl Fredricksen Residence from Disney's 'Up' (pictures taken from Google). I have added measurements so that pupils can use their knowledge of compound shapes to find the missing sides and ultimately work out the perimeter and area of the rooms in the house (I have also added the publisher version, should measurements like to be altered). From here, they can use the additional activity of determining how much it will cost them to decorate certain rooms. I would recommend using this with high-ability KS3 classes (but you may use it however you like!). I hope this proves to be useful/fun for your classes. Enjoy, and please leave feedback if you can! I usually print these questions as an A5 booklet and issue them in class or give them out as a homework. Feedback/suggestions appreciated please. These have worked brilliantly with my foundation group in Year 11. One of the things they struggle with is knowing which topic to work on, so I've added a table which they fill in after working on the sheet, which helps them identify what needs work. I've covered a large range of topics throughout the 6 sheets and more will be added as soon as I make them! The sheets fold nicely into a booklet that can be easily stuck in their books. Answers for each sheet are on a powerpoint to be shown to the class.
