French Perfect Tense – All you need!

This bundle will take several lessons and contains detailed resources that introduce each aspect of the Perfect Tense – regular avoir verbs, irregular avoir verbs, être verbs, reflexive verbs, and the negative with all verb types. Furthermore there is a murder mystery pack based on the perfect tense. The murder mystery set of resources was used for both Ofsted and internally reviews lessons, which were rated as 'outstanding'. Each resource set contains Power Points with accompanying worksheets. It introduces, explains and tests understanding of all aspects of the perfect tense in a step-by-step format.

KS4 French: Demonstrative Adjectives & Pronouns (Clothes)

Presentation and worksheet to introduce and practise demonstrative adjectives and pronouns (lequel, celui-ci, etc). Uses clothes vocabulary/shopping context generally (a bit of food vocab too, to remind students that grammar is applicable in multiple contexts) Probably best after some work/revision on clothes has been done first. Vêtements (Clothing in French) Detectives Speaking activity

This is an all-class activity. 5 students go to the front of class. There are 5 different pages hanging on the board. Each page has a name and 4 pictures of clothing. The activity uses a total of 10 different clothing items: tie, hat, coat, boots, socks, shirt, pants, belt, shoes, sweater. Students at seats take turns asking questions with yes/no answers in order to deduce which student has which name.

Year 8 Clothes, colours and opinions

1 hour lesson(clothes items needs to be introduced before hand in another lesson). This lesson is fully differentiated with support and challenge. Mini-plenaries are planned to monitor students'progress. By the end of this lesson students will be able to build complex sentences on clothes, giving their opinion on clothes and justifying their opinions. There are model answers for the speaking task and the writing task has a writing frame to support weaker students. This lesson refers to ARE ( Age Related Expectation ) as it is the way we assess KS3 in my school. It can easily be replaced by the way you assess your students.

Year 8 clothes introduction

1 hour lesson on clothes. This lesson refers to ARE ( Age Related Expectation ) as it is the way we assess KS3 in my school. It can easily be replaced by the way you assess your students. Students will learn a range of clothes items ( all presentation is colour coded to support with the gender of words). Students will then learn a range of adverbs to use in their sentences ( je porte souvent des jeans le week-end). Students will be actively involved when introducing the new vocabulary ( dictionary race and think pair share activities). There is a speaking task with model answers linked to success criteria ( You might want to adapt the success criteria as we refer to ARE in our school). There is also the possibility to print the model answer to support your weaker students. Mini-plenaries are planned ( and they are obvious on the powerpoint) to monitor students' progress.

100 minute lesson on clothes with opinions and justifications. This lesson is highly differentiated ( with support sheets and challenging activities throughout). I was observed for my appraisal observation with this lesson and I got outstanding. The learning objectives are linked to GCSE grade. There are model answers linked to GCSE grades for the speaking and writing tasks.

Year 8 or 9 lesson on clothes. This is the introductory lesson on clothes. This is a lesson planned for a 100 minute lesson. It can be easily adapted for 1 hour lessons. In this lesson students will learn about clothes items, colours and colour agreements. There are mini-plenaries to monitor students' progress.

Vêtements (Clothing in French) Jumeaux Speaking activity

This is an all-class mixer activity. It includes 15 unique sets of twins. Each student sheet has 5 statements. J'achète un pantalon bleu. J'achète and je porte are the only subjects and verbs used. Students mingle, trying to find their twin (the other person who has all 5 of the same statements, though in a different order). Students need to write the name of their twin and then find something that they have in common (related to the vocabulary and grammar of this activity). Vocabulary: clothing and colors. This is a low-stress activity focusing on speaking and listening. It can easily be edited to match the vocabulary from your text.
