This document is an ideal GCSE revision tool or used in KS3 as an introduction to data representation. It includes 5 page PDF handout which explains the theory of a decimal, binary and hexadecimal number base and gives three tasks to complete. Please note: This handout does not explain how to convert between number bases and only explains what each are and why binary and hexadecimal are used. It also includes a separate document containing the answers to the three tasks.

Data Transmission - serial and parallel data / parity bits and parity blocks

This is a full lesson on data transmission with all resources / activities. I use this for a double lesson of around 1 hour and 50 minutes and it provides a thorough understanding of simplex / duplex transmission and then goes on to look at serial / parallel transmission before finishing with odd and even parity bits and then parity blocks.
