Addie the Alien - First Aid - Lesson Plans

Addie the Alien - First Aid - Lesson Plans

The lessons in the Addie First Aid Awareness series can be taught as a unit of work over a period of six to eight lessons starting with the first section: ‘How 2 Understand Safety Awareness’ (Lessons 1 & 2); progressing to How 2 Saves Lives (Lessons 1, 2 & 3) and finishing with How 2 Take Emergency Action (Lessons 1 & 2). Schools looking for progression through the primary education years, these are the recommendations How 2 Understand Safety Awareness 6-7 year olds How 2 Saves Lives 8-9 year olds How 2 Take Emergency Action 10-11 year olds Note: the lesson plans are designed for any age from 6-11 years old. In the first part of this book “How 2 Understand Safety Awareness”, children learn simple terminology related to safety and engage in a fun activity that help them conceptualize this. Their friend “Addie” is there to help them. Next, they learn simple steps that they can take to “save lives”. Here, the aim is once again to make them aware of what to do when someone is having a medical condition. Once, all activities of this book are completed, we hope that one day, one child will truly be a HERO! Dr. Khaled Al Awam, Ph. D., MPH Neonatal and Pediatric Respiratory Specialist Safety is everyone’s responsibility and being able to recognise a safe environment in and around children is the first step. Kids have an incredible curiosity and in their quest to discover new things, they may injure themselves or others around them. In this book, kids learn, in an interactive process, how to be aware of their surroundings, what possible items that may expose them to danger are and what do when they are or someone else is injured. Furthermore, the activities in this book enable the children to critically think and consider their role in helping others, to the best of their abilities, when someone else is in a dangerous situation. The safety of our children should be our primary concern. Allowing them to have an awareness of hazards, dangers and risks is the beginning of that journey. Addie the alien empowers children in an emotionally intelligent way to embrace thinking about safety as a habit. It is these vital habit forming concepts that are vital in maintaining their safety and that of others. Research shows that children are more prone to serious accidents that can sometimes be life threatening when they are either without adult supervision or in the presence of other children. The Addie the Alien awareness course gives the opportunity to help save lives

The Sexual Ethics & Sexual Health Debate Generator

The Sexual Ethics & Sexual Health Debate Generator

This PowerPoint features 100 debates relating to sexual ethics and sexual heath. It also features a 'ramdomiser' so that debate topics can be summoned at random. This PowerPoint can be used for multiple PSHE sessions and should be considered an essential download for all those who deliver Sex Education. Each debate asks students to move from one side of the room or the other to make their position clear: teachers should then use questioning to foster a debate between students, encouraging them to present reasons for their choice and defend their position. Debates typically last 5-10 minutes each. The topics covered are broad, progressive, modern, often controversial and sometimes even a bit far-out (e.g. there's one about robotic prostitutes!). One of the aims of the PowerPoint is to use reason and critical thinking to examine sexual ethics whilst challenging social norms and conventions where they may be unhelpful. Teachers are advised to check, in advance, that the debates are suitable for their classes/years/schools/contexts etc: the PowerPoint is easily editable if you need to make any changes. I have tried to choose topics that are abstract enough that students should be able to answer freely without any social-risk or too much personal revelation (e.g. about their own sexuality etc).

PSHE / Puberty - Sex and relationships x16 Key term / words Topic revison cards. Literacy. KS3 Each Key word includes. Key Term Definition Synonym Example of the word in a sentence Picture or Icon 2x Exam Technique Qs’ (at least two Questions per Key term) You have two version one with Pictures and one without. (Allowing students to draw their own image to represent the key terms) These are designed to help those students who perhaps struggle with literacy to remember the key terms of the topic. Also useful for PP/ EAL / SEN Students and those with literacy needs. Exam Technique can also help your more able students in the class. How can they be used? Here are just a few examples of how I use them. - Student complete the Q's and draw in the pictures. -Hide them around the room and have students find them before introducing a new topic (Guess the topic?) - Matching up activity. Remove the words in red (Or keep them) Cut the topic cards in half and have students find the matching pairs. -Encourage students to come up with their own extra key term topic cards or extra sentence they can use to include several key terms. -Literacy support when writing essays. -Revision material before exams. - Have a set laminated and cut out at the back of the classroom in a box for Extension activities. This resource would work really well with my other 2017/2018 educational resources and Quizzes. Over 40+ in total. Why not take a look at a few.... Sexually Transmitted Infections Presentation for PSHE

Sexually Transmitted Infections Presentation for PSHE

(WARNING: CONTAINS IMAGES THAT SOME MAY FIND DISTURBING - INCLUDING PHOTOS OF MALE AND FEMALE GENITALIA). This EDITABLE presentation defines the term STI, outlines common symptoms and causes of sexually transmitted infections using photos and a 'fact file style' delivery. It poses questions about maturity and relationships and gives advice about self-protection. I designed this presentation for PHSE lessons with pupils 13-16 years old. They responded very well and were engaged by the nasty images! The presentation is all beautifuly animated and transitioned to create a professional, memorable and age-appropriate resource for teaching.
