Dance History - Legends in Dance - Robert Alton

Dance History - Legends in Dance - Robert Alton

This is part of a series of worksheet packets that I created for dance history and musical theater classes. I have dozens of figures from jazz, tap, ballet, modern, and musical theater. I developed these packets as a teaching tool for my students as there was no textbook for high school dance history acceptable for our program. These are written at the high school level, appropriate for most students in reading and comprehension. They are perfect for the Common Core Close Reading requirements. The packets are sourced and standard notated. They include questions. They work well as individual work, and small group work. We class correct then use the key questions for future reference. I follow up these packets with video clips of the particular artists and reflection questions. It helps the students connect the figure with the style of choreography. Perfect for introducing a pioneer in each genre and appropriate to leave for subs and group work too.

Physical Theatre Workshop Powerpoint (Frantic Assembly Focus)

Physical Theatre Workshop Powerpoint (Frantic Assembly Focus)

This powerpoint can be used to lead a workshop on the work of Frantic Assembly or as an introduction to the style. The workshop normally runs at around 45mins-1hour but can be shortened depending on group size, age and ability if you wish. Included are clear instructions on how to run a Frantic Assembly warm-up, 3 video examples of Frantic Assembly's work in action and some basic Chair Duet choreography which you can use to inspire your students before they go off to create their own work. Exercises are explained in the presenter's notes of the powerpoint so that you can ready yourself to deliver the session with confidence. The powerpoint is ready to go as soon as it is delivered. You will need to ensure you have a projector and the ability to play music (links to youtube pages with the required music tracks are included in the presenter notes). You will also need to ensure that you have a chair for each participant for the final task.

KS3 Comedy Full Scheme of Work

This is a full scheme of work which is ready to use immediately after download, saving you masses of preparation time. The scheme includes detailed lesson plans, powerpoints, exciting video examples, scripts and worksheets. It also highlights a number of opportunities to carry out both practical and written assessments if required. Spanning 8 lessons, this scheme of work introduces students to a variety of comedic techniques before focusing on crosstalk and the work of Mischief Theatre (creators of 'The Play that Goes Wrong, 'Peter Pan Goes Wrong' and 'Comedy about a Bank Robbery'). Originally the class this scheme was devised for had watched one of Mischief Theatre's productions. Assuming your groups have not been to see one of MT's productions, I have instead included examples of their work in the powerpoints to prepare your students for the final assessment drawing together all of their work on comedy to create a performance in the style of Mischief Theatre's work.
