3 x Wordsearch on the theme of 'London Theatres'. Powerpoint so can be used on the board or printed as a worksheet. Includes space for students to explain the keywords and suggested extension activities. Can take 10 minutes or an hour, depending on which activities the students complete. Ideal for the start of a lesson, a quick filler, a homework, part of a cover lesson or as a plenary on the board with a whiteboard pen. The idea behind these is to get students to become more literate and think independently about the words that could be used to describe the topic being taught. The repetition of the word over and over as they look for the word is useful in remembering the terms. Often the students will pick up on things that you would not normally expect!

Murder is Never Pleasant

Murder is Never Pleasant

A complete Murder Mystery Script for a Performance where the audience have the opportunity to guess the identity of the Murderer before it is revealed by the Inspector in spectacular style. The script, a lively Murder Mystery for a cast of twenty different characters is suitable for Middle and High school students who are able to concentrate on building confidence in characterisation through dialect, and voice projection, through this traditional, one location play. There is humour within the dialogue which can be developed alongside grown-up character relationships, in a play which introduces young students to the mechanisms of 20th century Murder Mystery Drama. The Play is written with a large cast of 20, in order to accommodate larger school class sizes, though roles could double for a smaller cast, and adjustments could be made to final revelation scene to accommodate this. The roles as written requires 12 Male, and 8 Female characters. I have taught this twice, and the parent audience enjoyed the performance and seeing their children imitate grown up characters. We rehearsed it for a complete term and a half and performed it just before a holiday. The children really got into the plot, and also provided many ideas of their own for props and costume. Many spent time researching by watching detective shows to help them develop a particular character.

Cyrano de Bergerac Cuttings and Activity

Cyrano de Bergerac Cuttings and Activity

This is a great way to introduce the classic story of Cyrano de Bergerac to your English or Drama students! Let your students really bring classic literature to life! This product contains 2 cuttings from Cyrano de Bergerac. The cuttings are the same part of the story, but one runs almost 15 minutes and the other runs 9-10 minutes. My students used the shorter cutting to place 3rd place at a local competition! This product ALSO contains a version of the script with a handful of reading comprehension questions in the margins, as well as an answer key.
