Y3 number and place value morning mats (double sided)

Y3 number and place value morning mats (double sided)

Number and place value morning mats containing 7 questions on each mat covering the year 3 objectives. There is a mixture of fluency, reasoning and problem solving questions. There are 5 mats in this pack. These are aimed at children meeting age related expectations. Answers are also included. In this version, the answer sheet is immediately after the question sheet. This means that if you want to print double sided so that children can easily self-check their work, it is simply a case of telling the printer to print double sided on the short edge. For mats with the answers grouped together at the end (better if you want to be able to print the mats out in sets for children to complete), check out the alternative version at https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/y3-number-and-place-value-morning-mats-11925081 Objectives covered: count from 0 in multiples of 4, 8, 50 and 100; find 10 or 100 more or less than a given number recognise the place value of each digit in a 3-digit number (100s, 10s, 1s) compare and order numbers up to 1,000 identify, represent and estimate numbers using different representations read and write numbers up to 1,000 in numerals and in words solve number problems and practical problems involving these ideas

This puzzle has been changed so pupil’s don’t feel cheated and can find a solution! Investigations using Indices. Prime Pirate Maze. A very simple way of reinforcing the prime numbers and the “look” of a prime number. With less able groups write on the bottom of the sheet all the prime numbers from 1 to 100 as a reminder. The strategy for solving the maze is interesting to watch. Some pupils start from different points trying to find routes. Some simply colour in the prime numbers at random until the routes appear! A Prime Maze. Prime and Square Numbers. A snakes and ladders game used to reinforce prime numbers and square numbers. It makes it a lot more interesting if pupils have to land exactly on the win square to finish. Multiplying by Powers of 10. Dividing by Powers of 10. Zap to Zero. Place Value. A game using the skills of place value. Stamps Four different investigations using stamps as a central theme.Probability (Equally Likely Outcomes). Questions based around equally likely outcomes. Numbuko

Numbuko

Numbuko is a creative numeracy iPad app for those teaching children aged 3-8 years. Numbuko is an open ended environment consisting of blocks that change colour according to the number of blocks attached in a row. In essence, Numbuko integrates aspects of unit blocks, Cuisenaire rods and Dienes blocks. Numbuko lets children explore relationships for numbers 1 -99 and can be used to teach and learn a wide range of concepts by bringing number relationships to life through colour. Numbuko is free with no advertising or in app purchases. I created Numbuko as part of a publically funded (ESRC) project investigating how materials shape how children think and learn mathematics. The app also provides information about the research.
