Behaviour Management Tips

(0)
A presentation covering a range of Behaviour management tips, strategies and methods. I used this on a staff training day for a group of TA’s. This resource can be changed and adapted for any groups/members of staff; teachers, lunch time supervisors, NQTS etc. Tips are basic but clear, examples of a few tips used in a classroom context are displayed on some slides. When presenting the PPT, I used the tips to form discussion points as well as promote questioning amongst staff. A session that encouraged sharing of methods, reflection on pupil behaviour, previous experience as well as celebrating moments of success too.

Preview: Behaviour management “Children’s behaviour often poses challenges to teachers. Sometimes such behaviour causes irritation to the teacher teaching a large class with varying abilities. At other times the behaviour of certain children disrupts the normal operation of the classroom or school for a time” (Gutierrez, 2018). Reflecting on my first term as a trainee teacher, this essay will evaluate my professional practice and focus on the strategies I have learned and implemented to help all pupils make good progress in my lessons.

Behaviour as Communication

(0)
Here is a powerpoint, with activities that help to illustrate that behaviour that challenges us is actually trying to communicate with us. It may not be doing it in the best way possible but it is trying to say something, perhaps “I can’t cope”, “Leave me alone” or “stop”. The powerpoint is accompanied by the stress bucket worksheet. If you are not aware of the stress bucket, it is explained nicely here. https://youtu.be/1KYC5SsJjx8 The powerpoint is also accompanied by the ‘behaviour analysis cards’. Both of which can be used independently. The cards with red arrows indicate possible triggers for challengeing behaviour, The speech bubbles provide suggestions as to what the behaviour may be ‘saying’ and the cards with green arrows provide suggestions as to what we or the individual can do to manage challenges more successfully.

This is a fully formulated spreadsheet with a promotion zone, middle of the table zone and relegation zone (I know there’s no promotion zone in the Prem- humour me!) You enter reward points in as the weeks go by and you can order who’s where by the points by using the ‘sort largest to smallest’ function. It’s super easy to use, easy to introduce with classes, and if yours are as football mad and competitive as mine, it should be effective! I use the final half term points to see if they’ve met the class reward trip on the points thermometer on my wall. Please get in touch if you have any questions, and leave a review with suggestions or feedback. It’d be very much appreciated.
