‘A Level Law Statutory Interpretation’ is a superb teaching resource for all law teachers since it covers the AQA, OCR and WJEC AS specifications. For flexibility and ease of use, the book is divided into two separate sections.
Part A contains 40 detailed A4 case notes which cover the entire syllabus on Statutory Interpretation. Many of these are illustrated with a picture or a drawing to help visual learners remember the case. On the reverse of each case note is a worksheet with questions and discussion points to help stimulate deeper understanding of the points of law involved and to develop your student's critical analysis skills. These can be photocopied for your students to keep.
Part B contains differentiated A4 classroom materials (with instructions) that cement understanding of both the facts of each case, but also the point of law involved. Here, there are crosswords, word searches and dominoes - all complete with answers. This allows teachers to deliver outstanding lessons. Again, these can be photocopied or projected onto a whiteboard. The key innovative feature of these materials is that exactly the same case facts and points of law are used for every type of activity. This has the distinct benefit that activities can be rotated while ensuring that all students are all working towards the same lesson objectives. In addition, there is a valuable summary table of facts and points of law for each case which is an ideal revision tool.
This book provides a complete kit of materials deliver highly effective lessons on the topic of Statutory Interpretation using a variety of different learning methods. See also the companion volumes on Judicial Precedent, Elements of Crime, Offences Against the Person and Negligence.
