KS2 History - Barates Profile and Writing Task
This resources focuses on Britain’s first known inter-racial marriage. Barates, a wealthy flag-trader of Syrian origins, came over to Britain as a Roman citizen, fell in love, freed and married a slave girl from the defeated Catuvellauni tribe. This resource has comprehension and discussion questions for pupils to explore their understanding. There is also a suggested writing task for pupils to extend their comprehension skills and to practise creative writing. This resource contains two sheets, one for early stage readers and one for more advanced readers.
