GCSE History Medicine in Britain L16 The Impact of Anesthetics and Antiseptics
Lesson focusing on the impact of anesthetics and antiseptics. Looks at the roles of James Simpson and Joseph Lister. Lesson begins with starter activity where students have to identify the correct period for medical developments. There is a reading sheet on anesthetics and antiseptics and students have to complete a table with key questions on Simpson and Snow. There are also three example answers to a practice 12 mark question on opposition to anesthetics and antiseptics. The lesson finishes with a plenary quiz. There is also a subject matrix included which students can use to self assess their knowledge. Useful for the new GCSE.
