LKS2 History - U.S. History Reading Comprehension Activity Book

U.S. History informational texts with comprehension and grammar questions for Year 3 and Year 4. This book is designed to help students develop their knowledge of key areas of the history of the United States, whilst working on their comprehension skills independently, and adding to their grammar knowledge and creative writing.
Each activity requires NO PREP and has a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. All texts then have an extension activity for those fast finishers.

This book contains the following close reading activities:
1 – The Boston Tea Party
2 – George Washington
3 – Abraham Lincoln
4 – The American Civil War
5 – World War I
6 – Amelia Earhart
7 – World War II
8 – Martin Luther King
9 – The Moon Landings
10 – Barack Obama

Answers, for teacher use, are on the final pages of the document.

Time allowance ( one hour) for each activity:
5 minutes - read through the text individually.
40 minutes - answer questions using the text as guidance (including extension activity)
15 minutes - Teacher and students go through the text and answers.
