Shelf Markers are a handy tool for students to use when browsing for books. When the student removes a book to look at it, teach them to place the shelf marker in that spot so that they remember where it came from! Not only does this teach them to be responsible library users but it makes your job of shelving much easier too! Teach them how to use them during the first few weeks of school!

This activity will prove to be helpful the whole year through! The students will have a quiet time to fill in the sentence on one side or perhaps just draw a picture if they are younger. Once they add their names you can collect them. Put a bar code on either side and not only will this act as a shelf marker while they are searching for books but it will also help you to get to know their names at check-out.

This activity is customizable in many ways:

· Print either in color or black and white

· Print double-sided or single-sided

· Choose which level is appropriate for your age group

· Use with a bar code for easy check-outs

· Can be used as a quick way to take attendance

· Color-code for your classes

· Print on card stock or laminate to ensure a robust design

· Many cute animals to choose from or have a mix! (Husky/wolf, bear, sloth, rabbit/bunny, crocodile, narwhal, owl and parrot)
