“I’m walking on a planet full of aliens and I see 18 eyes staring at me.
The purple aliens have 2 eyes.

This resource is ideal for a KS2 algebra or arithmetic warm up - to get students thinking about how numbers work together. It could also be used as an extension task. I used this with a tutee who loves robots. Afterwards, we moved into representing these questions as formula, to familiarise him with using algebra in this way.
