PETAL Paragraph Learning Mat for Literacy, English and Whole School

This is a clear and concise learning mat that guides students through how to structure a PETAL paragraph.

On two slides, which can be printed in colour and reused as learning mats or given to students to keep, the PETAL structure is explained.

One side gives an explanation as to what each letter stands for and what should be included.

The second side gives students a range of sentence openers to help them write their response.

Also included on the very clear, concise and colourful learning mat are a list of connectives, and a reminder that the PETAL structure does not need to be followed exactly (such as the technique may come just before the evidence).
