The number of refugees worldwide has climbed for seven consecutive years. Today, almost 80 million people have been forced to flee their homes. Among them are nearly 26 million refugees, around half of whom are under the age of 18. Many have undergone devastating experiences and lost everything familiar to them, including family members and friends.
Refugees are among the most vulnerable people in the world.
Refugee Week takes place annually around the 20th of June which is World Refugee Day. It’s a time to commemorate the strength, courage and perseverance of refugees.
This age-appropriate, thought-provoking presentation aims to;
- Raise awareness of the current refugee situation
- Initiate numerous discussions/debates around the refugee crises
- Encourage students to consider what, if anything can be done to support and help.
