Songs of Inspiration for Black History
The Songs of Inspiration contain songs that gives background history on black soldiers’ contributions to the Civil War, contributions of King Imhotep (a ruler in Egypt) known as the world’s first known genius, and contributions of King Akhenaten a Pharaoh in the Egyptian dynasty. A gospel song is included to inspire and uplift. These Inspirational Songs targets grades 3, 4, and 5. Singing and listening to songs engages students during lesson presentation, and helps students to maintain their focus on the classroom activities.
These songs can be used as supplementary resource for History lessons on the Civil War and lessons
on African Kings.
Sample learning objectives:
1. Research and list King Akhenaten's achievements.

2. Explain the challenges black soldiers experienced during the Civil War.

3. Explain why King Imhotep was considered a genius.
