To be used alongside a practical sound hunt, listening to sounds in the environment. Using sound vocabulary, such as quiet and loud, other words can easily be substituted. A short song/rhyme has been included at the end, to recap that sounds are heard by the ears, one of the 5 senses.
My 8 week superhero topic plan including weekly themes: Super Start, Superhero Me, Superheroes At Home, Superhero Comics, Vet and Doctor Superheroes, Our Super Bodies, School Superheroes and Saving the World. It also includes the 5 minute EYFS observation sheet I use for my reception class (with characteristics of a learner points to print on to the back of the sheet).
This powerpoint has the basics of introducing children to this weeks topic of Superhero Comics. The WALT is:
WALT create comic strips.
I'm using it in the Autumn Term with my reception class so will be sounding out the words and encouraging the children to blend them together to read the word, introducing the idea of reading topics from left to right, top to bottom.
It also includes empty speech bubbles to encourage the children to generate their own ideas for what the superheroes could be saying.
In my classroom we have Don the Donkey (who I have told the reception children that he comes alive at night). To help Don the Donkey become a superhero super counter, the children had to practice counting carefully, taking turns to come to the IWB and click on the correct answer. This powerpoint also includes my number rhyme which we used as a mental and oral starter (along with fabric numbers - The children love numberjacks!!) to try and help children recognise their numbers.
Includes '5 Little Firefighters' song with pictures as a mental and oral starter. Fireman Sam needs helps saving animals around the town - Can you help take away the animals? Moves onto IWB game involving blowing out candles and seeing how many our left.

Contains information on how many legs the dinosaur walked on, which period of the Mesozoic era and approx how many million years ago they lived, diet, habitat, length, height, weight and what the name means.
Dinosaur theme workbook will help learners to review their knowledge about dinosaurs.
A dinosaur report will add some fun while learning. The spelling and times table assessment data will help learners visualize their results.
