What is it Like to Be an Archaeologist? (Grades 6-8)

What is it Like to be an Archaeologist is a project based activity that provides 6-8 grade students with the opportunity to work in collaborative learning groups to help them gain an understanding of what an archaeologist does. They will act as archaeologists and go on a dig where they will find, excavate and finally re-assemble decorated clay pots. Students will learn about the different types of jobs that are needed for a dig. Conclusions will be drawn and presented to the class. As a homework assignment, they will write about their experience and illustrate their completed artifact.
