Kick-start the new term with comprehensive schemes of work for literacy, numeracy, science and cross-curricular topics

During the busy Christmas period, it can often be a race against time to prepare lessons for after the holidays. To make your life easier for the start of term, we’ve selected a range of resources for each key stage, comprised of detailed planning, lesson ideas and practical tools to engage learners.

Primary ICT Curriculum ./ Scheme of Work

This is a full ICT Curriculum for Primary Schools, which I'm making available in an editable format after many requests. Full details of the reasoning behind the curriculum, along with further acknowledgements, can be found on my blog- linked in the resources. These documents took a long time to produce, and is given here in an editable form so you can adapt to your school. Please comment on the resource, and of course, it&'d be great if you could let me know how it has evolved in your school!

Handwriting Planning - Scheme of Work and Resources

A half term scheme of work suitable for both KS1 and KS2 introducing all letter formations (including capitals) using a cursive script, teaching children to initially form the letters individually and then joining them in words and sentences. Includes a final assessment lesson (week 6).

Tongue twisters, grouped by letter styles, are used for the sentences which give an appealing focus to writing sentences during handwriting lessons.

Resources to support the planning include:

- Golden Rules PowerPoints - used to introduce and remind the children of the skills needed when getting ready to write including position of paper, sitting correctly etc.
-Tongue Twisters - used to support writing sentences using a joined cursive script
- Handwriting paper PowerPoint - matches commonly used handwriting book pages
- Handwriting display titles - used to display examples of good or well improved handwriting from your class

KS1 Animal Habitats Scheme of Learning

This scheme of learning has been put together by Marwell Wildlife for teachers to use in school with their KS1 pupils. It is a complete set of lessons designed to meet the 2014 National Curriculum links for Living Things and their Habitats. Marwell Wildlife is a registered conservation charity and education is one of our key outputs. We are involved in a range of conservation projects both in the UK and in Africa, including habitat restoration. There are a variety of fun activities, many of which get the pupils outside where they can best learn about habitats and wildlife.

In addition there is a 30 page flipchart (ActivInspire, PowerPoint and PDF format) to help deliver and teach the lessons. Also included is a planning tool, so you’ll simply need to copy and paste plans into your desired format.
