Frayer Model Graphic Organizer (20 Pre-Made Models Included!!)

Frayer Model Graphic Organizer (20 Pre-Made Models Included!!)

This is a modification that I created of the original Frayer Vocabulary Model. It is best used digitally. Though it is in PDF, you can easily use programs such as DocHub to easily make it interactive. My Frayer Model has the following features: 1. Term name 2. Pre-Self Metacognitive Assessment (How well do they think they know the meaning of the term Scale 1-4) 3. The term used in context from the text. (You can change this section to a picture or video with a video link.) 4. Wring the meaning of the term in their own words (Student DOES NOT LOOK UP THE DEFINITION.) 5. Researching a picture or video of how the student sees the meaning of the term (picture and/or video) 6. Synonyms of the term 7. Antonyms of the term 8. Writing how the term is used in the real world (complete sentence) 9. Mid-Self Metacognitive Assessment (How well do they think they know the meaning of the term Scale 1-4) 10. Writing the definition of the term in their own words. 11. Final-Self Metacognitive Assessment (How well do they think they know the meaning of the term Scale 1-4). I have included an example Frayer Model and 20 blank templates for your usage. Enjoy!! Engaging and visual powerpoint to accompany 'The Brain' SOW

The Brain scheme of work: Years Reception to Eleven Improving children’s metacognition since 2016 This scheme of work offers an exciting opportunity for children aged four to sixteen to learn about the brain, the most important organ in the body, controlling everything we think, feel and do. We offer choice and flexibility in our lesson plans to attract students with all different abilities and aptitudes, from those who just want to know the basics about the brain to those who want to learn about all of the depths of this subject. We want students: • To understand just how complex and sophisticated the brain is; including what parts the brain consists of, and what these parts control. • To understand that the potential of the brain can be improved by simple actions one can perform every day. • To understand that the brain can also be affected by actions we perform, i.e. drinking, smoking and taking drugs. Topics covered in this scheme of work: • What is the brain? • My memories • What is my potential in life? • What is the nervous system? • My healthy brain • Concentration • Dreams • Alcohol • Drugs • Stress Also available to purchase to use alongside this powerpoint -1 lesson for every year from Reception to Year 11 which includes a starter, a main activity and a plenary, and adaptations for more and less able students. -Also included are links to videos on youtube to accompany some of the lesson plans -Worksheets to accompany the lessons

Man on the Moon - Five Week Multi Genre Planning and Resources KS1/LKS2

This download includes five weeks of detailed and engaging planning and resources, including SPAG. I used these activities with a Year 2 class, but they could easily be adapted to suit Year 1 or LKS2. For this unit, pupils are involved in writing for ‘real’ purposes using the fiction book: Man On The Moon by Simon Bartram. Pupils are asked to help Bob with various tasks that demand using and applying the text types they will have explored in Year 1 as well as being introduced to new forms of writing. By the end of the unit, the children will have produced a postcard, instruction text, character description, recount and information text with glossary.

Turn a boring biography report into a fun project with this step-by-step guide.

Turn a boring biography report into a fun project with this step-by-step guide.

Who can use it? Any student, any age, with a special benefit for reluctant readers, writers, or workers. What’s included? A step-by-step guide for students, a list of materials, explanation for the activity, and an example. Why is this useful? This is a fun twist on traditional biography reports that can be assigned in history, social studies, ELA, or writing classes. Instead of creating a typical report or poster, this is a much more hands-on activity that allows for creativity, while still including meaningful writing. You’ll be able to clearly assess a student’s comprehension with their completed project, and they’ll be engaged while creating it!

Class Assembly/Play - THE GREATEST SHOW! (based on the Greatest Showman)

THE GREATEST SHOW! - A PLAY OR CLASS ASSEMBLY! **THIS IS THE CLASS ASSEMBLY THAT CAUGHT THE EYE OF HUGH JACKMAN! HE SENT US A GOOD LUCK MESSAGE! - YOU MAY HAVE SEEN ON THE NEWS! FOLLOW THE LINK BELOW TO SEE MORE OR WATCH US ON THE NEWS ON BBC POINTS WEST 6.6.18 ** https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-gloucestershire-44382007 A class assembly/play for reception, KS1 or even KS2! We did this with a Reception class - they were incredible! It ran alongside our ‘Circus’ theme. We focussed lots on The Greatest Showman and the song ‘This is Me’. I’ve included the script, presentation (which includes all music) and some costume letters to be sent home. I added photos of the children to the slide show which made it even better. The slide show has all been set up and timings suited us. We had such great feedback from this production! I hope you enjoy it! (SEE MAIN IMAGE FOR REAL PREVIEW! -The font and pics look a little weird in the TES preview pics? But it’s actually all done in Comic Sans! I did have it all in pre-cursive, but knew that some schools wouldn’t have this font, so changed it all to Comic Sans. Hopefully it should be in that font when you download!)
