My Home Writing/ Speaking practice GCSE

My Home Writing/ Speaking practice GCSE

Writing and Speaking practice for the new GCSE (based on the AQA scheme of work), can be used across any language (in my school we use it for German, French and Spanish).I use this at the end of a module for students to recap and add it to their file for future reference. It prepares them for writing assessments and the general conversation part of the speaking assessment. There are 8 questions for students to answer on the topic MY HOME.I have also included a generic checklist for students to use, to make sure they are using tenses, opinions, justification etc. as well as a blank checklist for teachers/ students to add language specifics/ extra criteria for higher target grades. I am also selling similar placemats for other topics.

GERMAN VOCABULARY (5) - GAMES & ACTIVITIES

GERMAN VOCABULARY (5) - GAMES & ACTIVITIES

99 ESSENTIAL WORDS AND PHRASES FOR BEGINNING GERMAN LEARNERS!This set of games and activities really do help students to develop and embed their beginning GERMAN vocabulary in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way. They’re ideal for independent learning, and perfect for pair and small-group work. Students can quiz/test themselves and each other on a regular basis - they're a very popular alternative to more traditional vocabulary 'drilling tasks', and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. This set features 99 BEGINNING WORDS AND PHRASES that students are likely to meet in the INTRODUCTORY stages of their GERMAN learning:- Deutsche Verben (1)- die Zahlen 81-100- die Uhrzeit (1)- In der Stadt (1)- Adjektive (2)- Fragen und Antworten (5)I've described the resource as suitable for ages 7-14, but it does depend on the age at which your students begin GERMAN - the games and activities work well with any appropriate learning group, depending on their starting point. There are two non-editable files in a zipped format - the other files you can see are preview images to give you an idea of what the resource looks like as a whole:FILE 1: GERMAN and ENGLISH game cards, with all the words and phrases to use in a variety of games and activities - I've suggested a range of games and activities that have worked well for me. This file also includes the game card template, which encourages your students to apply their developing knowledge of GERMAN practically and creatively.FILE 2 - this is an 18-page REFERENCE, RECALL & WRITE booklet, best photocopied double-sided, and double-stapled down the left-hand side. This format is very learner-friendly, and easily kept in a learning file or folder for regular reference. All the words and phrases are listed GERMAN-ENGLISH in language categories. There are 3 differentiated RECALL & WRITE activities to help your students really practise and review the vocabulary:CHILLOUT CHALLENGE: students write from memory all the words and phrases in ENGLISH from a GERMAN prompt - all the words/phrases are in their language categoryCHAMPION CHALLENGE: students write from memory all the words and phrases in GERMAN from an ENGLISH prompt - again, all the words and phrases are in their language categorySUPERCHARGED CHALLENGE: all the words and phrases appear in random order, and switch from GERMAN to ENGLISH at each question - this really does put students' memories to the test! Please read the Terms of Use carefully - this resource is copyright, and for single-classroom use only. VIELEN DANK UND VIEL SPAß!

Treasure Hunt - Places in Town and Directions

Treasure Hunt - Places in Town and Directions

A fun game that can be used to practise speaking about places in town and giving directions.Works best if there are prizes for finding the treasures! There are 5 maps with streets and town buildings (church, hospital ect) and three hidden treasure per slide. Students have to guess where the treasure is by naming the place of giving directions there, when you click on the place it reveals either an empty space or a treasure. The third slide turns the whole game into a race between different teams. In stronger classes they could practise prepositions and cases/genders (in der Kirche/ au stade ect)The last two slides are more detailed to practise more complex directions like ‘over the bridge’, ‘at the traffic light’ ect.

Grammar auction (German)

Grammar auction (German)

A revision activity that can be adapted to practise any grammar structure. Can be used with or without the power point. Students decide in groups whether they think the sentences are grammatically correct and how confident they are of their answer (their bet is based on this). They can "win" a bonus by correcting the sentences that have mistakes in them. If they guess correctly, their bet is a positive score, if they are wrong it is taken away from their total. The team with the highest score wins.
