Italian Lesson - Body Parts - Parti del Corpo - Stage 4 - Mandatory Languages

Italian Lesson - Body Parts - Parti del Corpo - Stage 4 - Mandatory Languages

This Italian lesson, incorporating ICT, requires students to create their own A4 poster type pages for 'Body Parts' and 'The Head' in Microsoft Publisher. Using clipart and online translators students create posters which identify and label items in both English and Italian. All the instructions and examples necessary to complete the work are detailed on the one page handout. This page can also be displayed in digital format on a large screen as an aid to more direct teacher instruction. The lesson should take approximately 80 minutes to complete.

Italian Quiz ideal as an introduction to Italian. Fun, informative and ready for immediate use.

Italian Quiz ideal as an introduction to Italian. Fun, informative and ready for immediate use.

This is a quiz with many rounds and varieties of questions including: *True or False - Celebrities born in Italy *Pet translations *English TV in Italy *Italian Football Teams plus many other questions about the history, culture, geography and other contextual, interesting facts about Italian. The quiz takes on bell model, starting with easier questions moving on to more challenging questions before finishing with easier ones again so that all students are able to participate and maintain interest until the end. Many questions have additional information attached to explain and provide further reference points. Some questions are asked in English with English answers, some are asked in Italian with English answers and some asked in Italian with Italian answers. This would be ideal as an introduction to Italian, as a starter for a lesson or for a fun lesson at the end of term. Any and all feedback, positive or developmental is greatly appreciated.

Italian Easter Vocabulary, Games and Traditions - KS3 + KS4

Italian Easter Vocabulary, Games and Traditions - KS3 + KS4

Excellent lesson, introducing / re-capping Italian Easter vocabulary and traditions. Fully animated and very attractively presented. Lesson is fully differentiated with 'Challenge' and 'Want support' options for learners as appropriate. LA and HA worksheets included within bundle. All answers provided and support for teacher in 'Notes' section of each slide. Emphasis on fun, independent learning. Students are asked to match Italian Easter vocabulary to the English equivalents to begin, then repeat the words after the teacher (create a team points game from this activity if you wish with actions). Students are then asked to match a phrase to the correct image, using letter cards or by writing a letter on a whiteboard. A reading text then follows, with questions linked to Easter celebrations and traditions in Italy. At the end of the lesson, a Pictionary slide is set up to review learning, and also an Easter Egg Hunt game, whereby if students answer questions correctly, they can choose a square to hunt for 15 golden eggs. Took four hours to make! A huge time saver!

Italian Valentine's Day Worksheet KS2 / KS3 / KS4

Italian Valentine's Day Worksheet. First exercise asks students to translate vocabulary and match ten pictures to the Italian words (for example la scatola di cioccolatini, il cuore, il regalo, il bacio). Second exercise asks students to translate some simple Italian love phrases (for example tesoro mio, luce mia). Final exercise asks students to write a love letter in Italian, and gives them 24 phrases to help them to get started. Can be used for KS2 (first exercise + creating a Valentine's Day card), KS3 and KS4 (ask students to extend letter with past and / or future tenses). Great fun to teach, can lead on to lots of games with vocabulary, for example Pictionary or Splat!

Italian New Year Traditions - KS3 - Worksheet and Answers

Italian New Year Traditions - KS3 - Worksheet and Answers

Excellent resource, outlining in four short paragraphs a series of Italian traditions and customs for New Year's Eve. Document includes a short text, a series of questions in English to consolidate understanding, answers to the questions and helpful vocabulary. The text is adapted from a longer article online (link on worksheet) and can easily be lengthened if not challenging enough for group. I use this with a year 7 and a year 10 Italian class, both several months into their Italian language studies. Acts as a great springboard for further discussion and cultural comparisons, and introduces them to a range of authentic vocabulary. A perfect first lesson back in January, topical and interesting.
