Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain - Booklet + guide to writing a film review

Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain - Booklet + guide to writing a film review

Here's a guided worksheet to complete as you watch the movie. It focuses mainly on developing vocabulary and enhancing comprehension but can be supported by class discussion. The second worksheet is a follow-on from the booklet and gives students the opportunity to read a film review for 'Amélie', look at how to write a film review, and plan their own review. The level of difficulty is A2/B1, accessible for students who have been learning French for 2-3 years at least. It is a great opportunity for students to gain an insight into French culture. Watching the movie and completing the booklet would take up to 5-6 hours. The film review worksheet would take about an hour to complete and the review can be set as an assessed task or a homework

Vocabulary booklet

Vocabulary booklet

I made this vocabulary booklet for my Year 7 class (top set). It has the vocabulary in French and in English, an example of how to use each word or phrase inside a sentence, and a last column for students to write their own sentence using the vocabulary from the first column. My students use this resource mainly for homework, but also in class to refer to the vocabulary, as a help sheet, and for revision before assessment. Each topic has an extension section with more complex phrases or more vocabulary for students to expand their ideas. Topics here include: cinema, television, times, future activities, past activities, clothes and shopping for clothes.

Expo 3 rouge Module 1.2 On va au cinéma

After introducing the vocab on this topic in a previous lesson, I used this presentation to develop pupils' writing skills and AfL. Pupils are asked to find key vocab in a text, discuss what is good about the text and write their own paragraph. There is also a peer-assessment grid to finish the lesson. This resource is aimed at high ability year 9. Any feedback welcome!
