Echo Express 1 Module 4 Vocabulary Matching Exercises

Echo Express 1 Module 4 Vocabulary Matching Exercises

These simple yet versatile matching exercises are made from the vocabulary used in module 4 of Echo Express 1. They can be used as starters, extensions, plenaries, homework and revision. They are also great for measuring progress when used as a starter and a plenary in the same lesson. They can also be colour-coded / traffic lighted to provide instant feedback as well as a focus for assessment revision. I always let pupils choose whether they want to write the answers in in English or the Target Language. Matching with lines never works! I have had great feedback from pupils when using them and hope you will too. Please let me know if you find typos / mistakes.

Speaking cards - Hobbys & Relationships

Speaking cards - Hobbys & Relationships

To promote spontaneous speaking, I have trialed pair-work questioning with my students. I copy the attached file onto different coloured card and then cut out. I put them into piles face down. The idea is for students to work in pairs, taking in turn to take a card from the pile and ask their partner the question on it. This is good for comprehension practice and also allowing students to build their confidence when speaking.

German sport opinions - higher level - translation

German sport opinions - higher level - translation

A resource to enable students to massively improve and detail their opinions. All of the examples in this pack are on the topic of sports, but it could easily be adapted to other topics. There are 8 pages of structures at the end of the powerpoint and as a PDF which could be printed as an A4/A3 page, laminated for tables, or using the different version converted into a mini-book for students reference. The powerpoint includes many slides for explaining the use of the structures followed by some sentences to translate into English using the other pages for support.

Quiz Quiz Trade Speaking Cards on the Future Tense with hobbies/free time

Quiz Quiz Trade Speaking Cards on the Future Tense with hobbies/free time

A class set of Quiz Quiz Trade cards which practise the future tense with the topic of hobbies/free time activities. The cards include sections in brackets which can be translated for extra challenge. For example, needing to use inversion with 'morgen'. How Quiz Quiz Trade works: Every student gets a card. They get up, and find a partner. They 'quiz' their partner by reading out an English sentence for them to translate. Once both partners have done a translation, they swap cards and find another partner. I like to give students a certain amount of time and for them to see how many conversations they can have in that time.

new GCSE style photo card - Healthy Living - German

new GCSE style photo card - Healthy Living - German

In this file there are 5 photo cards on Healthy Living, based on the new AQA German GCSE. These could be used as a speaking assessment or revision between pupils. Each page has a teacher and a student version of the photo card on it. The student version only shows the first three questions and the teacher one has an additional two. The first question on each photo card prompts the student to describe the photo, and there is always one question where the student has to give an opinion. Furthermore, there is also always at least one question in another tense. I am also selling photo card resources on other topics.

Reading based on German sport stars and their hobbies.

Reading based on German sport stars and their hobbies.

I have used this reading resource with numerous groups from year 7 to GCSE. It revises opinion phrases and 'weil' clauses. The students enjoy this reading comprehension as they learn a bit about German culture too! It is a staged reading which could also be used for cover.

Was machst du im Sommer? (Echo 2 module 1)

Was machst du im Sommer? (Echo 2 module 1)

A Power Point covering a whole lesson whose aim is to talk about what activities you and other people do during the different seasons. Grammar focus is the PRESENT TENSE rule (regular and some irregular verbs in all persons). Lots of funny and/or kinaestetic activities, all differentiated for you (battleships, word search, dice game). It goes very well to talk about what you normally do in your holidays with STIMMT 2 module1. Hope you enjoy!
