Phase 5 Phonics Roll and Read

Phase 5 Phonics Roll and Read

Following the letters and sounds curriculum, this activity will help your littlies to practice their segmenting, blending, phoneme recognition, fine motor skills and writing. Super useful! Containing gameboards with grey writing for your littlies to trace over, and black writing so they can just focus on reading, there is plenty of flexibility with this game. Both the grey and the black game boards have the target phoneme highlighted in red/pink to keep you kiddos focused on the sound. Simply roll the dice, find the corresponding column, read the word and then either cross it out or trace over it. In my classroom, we like to pick the number we think is going to be the winner and then race to the top! You could even turn it into a competition and give each child a different coloured pen. If they can sound it out correctly, they trace/cross the word. Winner is the child with the most of their colour. An engaging way to get your littlies practising word skills. Use it in phonics lessons, word work segments, literacy centres or English lessons. As always, my resources are made using the OpenDyslexic font to help our dyslexic learners. It is newly updated to include the sans 'a' that primary teachers prefer! We are dyslexia friendly! Phonemes included: ay ou ie ea oy ir ue aw wh ph ew oe au ey a-e e-e i-e o-e u-e The pack includes: - 19 gameboards with grey writing. - 19 gameboards with black writing.

Character Emotions Charts

These Character Emotions Charts can be used when reading to understand how a character is feeling or during writing to add emotions to stories. You may want to put a copy in students’ reading response journals and/or their writing journals. This freebie includes a color and black & white copy of two different charts. The first chart already provides a list of basic emotions and corresponding clip art. The second chart is for older students as it includes synonyms. Students may add to the lists as they find more synonyms. They may also want to use the blank faces to draw feelings and write additional emotions they find while reading.

Back to School Sticker Stories Writing Center

Sticker stories are a fun way for students to practice writing during literacy centers. By providing scenes and stickers for students to manipulate, it is easier for them to generate ideas. It also prevents you from hearing them say, “I don’t know what to write about!” While you are definitely encouraged to allow students to use any stickers you have, this set provides printable “stickers” for you. You can print these on regular copy paper to put at your writing center. Students can color and glue these paper “stickers” to their stories. School scenes included in this set are: * Classroom * Gym * Library * Cafeteria * Playground * School Exterior
