This trial version has one sheet to help pupils become more confident at identifying word classes. The idea is simple… -Choose a colour for each word class. -Colour all the corresponding words from the text in that colour. 8 different worksheets are included in the full version which has been written in MS Word - so you can adapt them / create your own. They could be given for homework, used is class or given as MORNING WORK. The sheets ask pupils to look for… -Nouns -Verbs -Adjectives -Adverbs -Determiners -Prepositions -Conjunctions -Pronouns …but these can easily be changed to suit the needs of your pupils. This is a 9 page homework project about the Mary Celeste - ideal for year 5 and 6 children. It could be completed in class or given as homework. It includes four separate writing activities. -a letter -a speech -a log book entry -a report / letter Excerpt: TASK 1 – A Letter to His Brother As Benjamin Briggs, you decide to write a letter to your bother – Oliver. Like you he has also invested all of his money into a ship. His ship is called Julia A. Hallock. Both brothers had considered retiring as captains and thought about going into business together. In hindsight this was a mistake, but at the moment Benjamin Briggs is looking forward to the journey he is about to make - even if he is a little worried about the ‘curse’ on his ship. Make sure that think about the following things:. a. Think about how to set out an informal letter. b. Explain why you are writing. Each activity includes advice to help the children improve the quality of their writing.
