Fact File Template: A template for pupils to use based on an organisation they are studying. Marking Codes Doodles: Here are 15 marking codes that will prove invaluable for you when marking your pupils’ digital work. Included in this bundle are the red, green and off white/grey codes. You will be able to place this anywhere in the document with ease! Included in this resource is a PowerPoint with the explanation of the marking codes. The 3 Wise Monkeys

The 3 Wise Monkeys

This teaching toolkit technique called “the 3 wise monkeys” has been designed based on one of my favourite proverbs “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil”. The idea is that students take on the role of the 3 monkeys: Mizaru, who sees nothing; Kikazaru, who hears nothing; and Iwazaru, who speaks nothing. It aims to promote challenge, listening skills, student interaction and peer teaching. Comes with student template to be adapted to any subject and any topic and teacher instruction sheet.

These Literacy and Numeracy plans have been created by UK teachers for teachers in Sierra Leone. They were put together as part of a TeachMeet organised by tes and Save the Children. They are being used by teachers in Sierra Leone as part of a Teacher Professional Development course. The lesson plans demonstrate many of the features of a good lesson which are explored in the TPD course. There are aspects of creativity, interaction, questioning skills, local resource use, and differentiation ideas. This document was created for training purposes. It does not necessarily represent Save the Children’s official position.

AI, gamified and flipped classroom in Finland

AI, gamified and flipped classroom in Finland

Finland’s new national curriculum emphasizes the use of technology and group work. Games can offer an interactive and exciting content to learners and promote co-operation in learning. Pedagogy, a digital game and videos supported the collaborative learning in the classroom and the whole school. Instead of using a book, pupils were playing a mathematics learning game. Join me in the conversation and help me create meaningful MOOC content. Tweet your thoughts and ideas @pirre74

Coding, Collaboration, Communication and Curriculum in Finland

Coding, Collaboration, Communication and Curriculum in Finland

Computer science nurtures problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. The world is increasingly run by software and we need more diversity among those people who are building it. Not all students will be software developers or writers, doctors or translators, but we are already surrounded by technology and even more so in the future. The main point is to provide a basic understanding of society, living environment and fields of science and thus provide equal opportunities for all the learners. Understanding how computers work and how to use them well, gives children skills and knowledge to succeed in global competition and life generally. Year 3 pupils were not only taught the basics of coding, but they were taught to teach other classes the magic of coding. They have taught around 200 other children and teachers in Finland and India (via video) the Magic of Coding. You can learn more about the Coding Ambassadors here or email for an online course including videos and lesson plan for collaborative coding lessons.
