Numbers Dice game

Print on cardstock and laminate to last for years to come. Make 1 game board for every 2-3 students. You will need 2 dice for each game board. You also need bingo chips to mark squares. Or, if laminated, students can use a dry erase marker to initial a square. Students take turns rolling the dice to determine which square. Students must correctly identify the number in the square to win it. Student with most squares at the end of time wins the game OR student who gets 6 in a row (“bingo”) wins. Can be used for any language. Includes 3 games: 1 - 39; 40 - 99; 1 - 100.

Numbers Slides and Ladders game

Print on cardstock and laminate to last for years to come. Make 1 board for every 2-4 students. You will need 1 die per game and 1 token for each player. All tokens start off of the board. Students take turns rolling the die to advance. If the student lands on a green ladder, he/she goes to the top of the ladder. If the student lands on a red slide, he/she goes to the bottom of the slide. When landing on a number, the student must say the number in the target language. If wrong, student goes back to original square and loses his/her turn. Uses the numbers 1 - 100. Good for any language.

The crossword is A3 size and includes 98 across words and 100 down words - which means it is HUGE! My Year 7’s did this recently and absolutely loved it! It’s a great way of rounding off the year and recapping everything done in Year 7. Of course, this crossword can be given to KS4 classes too as quick revision of basic vocabulary. This resource could be used in the classroom or could be set as homework to complete over the summer holidays. It took me a long time to make this, but I would say it’s been well worth it - my pupils have really enjoyed completing it!! :D

Preguntas y respuestas - Board Game

This is a simple board game designed to practice asking and answering basic personality questions in Spanish. There are two different versions, one with prompts for the answers and the other one with the questions. Students must either read the prompts and fill in the missing information or ask the questions and give the answers, There is also a blank version for the students to fill in with questions / prompts and create their own personalized board game. INSTRUCTIONS Print on A3 paper or cardboard and laminate. You will need counters and dice. The students take turns to throw the dice and move the counters. If they fall on Vuelve a la salida, they must go back to the start. If they fall on Pierdes un turno, they must miss their next turn. The first player to get to* Llegada* wins. The ideal number of players is 2, so print as many copies as you need. If there are more than 4 players, the students will get bored waiting for their turn and they will not get enough speaking practice to make the activity meaningful from the point of view of language learning.

These games are designed to revise the following basic Spanish vocabulary: seasons months days of the week parts of the day weather numbers clothes and accessories colors describing adjectives (peoplel) emtions INSTRUCTIONS The game is similar to Spoons. The objective of the game is to make four of a kind as soon as possible. In each group there is 1 picture card illustrating a particular farm animal and 3 sentence cards describing that animal. The game can be played in groups of 8 students. If there are less than 8 students, you must take out the corresponding number of four-of-a-kind group of cards. If there are more than 8 students, you may print another copy of the game and add the corresponding number of four-of-a-kind group of cards. Shuffle well and deal 4 cards to each player. All cards must be dealt. All the students put down one card, discarding to their left. Then, they all take the card on their right. They keep doing it, silently, until they all reach four of a kind. The last student to reach four of a kind is the burro (loser).

El calendario - Card Game

This game is a Spanish version of the classic " I have… Who has …? " game, designed to practice revising a unit on weather and clothes by asking and answering about seasons, weather, months, days of the week, birthdays, holidays, numbers, clothes etc. This is an easy-to-play game and a great way to practice essential language concepts with the whole class. As students match up the answers on their cards with questions on other students’ cards, they get valuable practice with vocabulary, as well as reading and listening skills. Directions: Cut out the cards along the dotted line and laminate. For bigger classes, you might want to print several copies of each set. Give out all the cards in the set to the students. It is important to use all the cards. Choose a student to go first. I usually do that by a counting rhyme. Have the selected student read the question at the bottom of the card aloud and then put the card down. The student who has the card with the answer then reads that answer aloud. This student will then read the question at the bottom of their card and put the card down. Play continues in this fashion until all of the cards have been played. The game will end with the same student who started play. Every card in the set is connected to a card before it and a card after it. To keep the game moving at a quick pace, all students need to pay attention to every question that has been asked. I tell my younger students that this is a magic game and that the magic only works if you pay attention, which is actually true. The magic happens in the end, when the question on the last card actually matches the answer on the very first card. Enjoy!
