A Level Geography Statistical Tests

A Level Geography Statistical Tests

This lesson has been designed to help A Level students with Spearman’s Rank and Chi Squared test, by going through an example of each step by step. In addition there are some slides discussing when to use the test and what some of the pros and cons are. This typically takes up an hour lesson and the students do find it useful going through it step by step. Slide 14 can be printed off and handed to the students and the word document is the chi squared example handed out to students.

The Binomial distribution

The Binomial distribution

This lesson is a valuable resource for ‘AS,’ and ‘A,’ level pupils studying statistics. The lesson explains the topic of a binomial experiment which is a statistical experiment that has the following properties: The experiment consists of n repeated trials. Each trial can result in just two possible outcomes. We call one of these outcomes a success and the other, a failure. The probability of success, denoted by P, is the same on every trial.

This 270 slide Powerpoint covers all of the first year of the single A Level Applied course (based upon the Edexcel course). It includes explanations, worked examples and questions for students to do. I have included everything, possibly more than you may need but I’d rather give people the option to skip a slide than have to make something up on the spot. Colleagues of mine used this during the first year of the new course.
