What's it like to be a Muslim in the UK in 2018?

What's it like to be a Muslim in the UK in 2018?

KS3 RE lesson on the positive and negative experiences Muslims face in the UK in 2018. Pupils work through the basics of Islamic belief and ideas, then use these to establish what positive opportunities Muslims experience in modern Britain, and how difficult some things like just eating in MacDonalds or doing PE at school during Ramadan can be. Pupils then consider further reasons why Muslims can face difficulties linked to how people have misinterpreted the term Jihad in the media. The outcome is an extended piece of writing. Please note that the true/false cards and the sorting statements are from a resource by Danielle99 and so this resource is free - I’d rather not capitalise from other’s work!

Authority KS3 RS Religious Education Scheme of work unit Y7 Y8 or Y9

Authority KS3 RS Religious Education Scheme of work unit Y7 Y8 or Y9

This unit includes all you need to teach for around a term to KS3. There are lesson power points with back up activities, sheets, discussion points, resources, assessments etc. There is an assessment record page and a scheme of work to go with the powerpoint too. I have also written a three hour Flip Learning Project which substitutes some of the lessons as additional extra., the 99 names of God. Unit looks at leaders across faiths, holy scripture/Qu’ran as authority, Muhammad’s Night of Power and issue of obedience to authority/tradition/culture etc through wearing of coverings as a decision for Muslim women. This unit is a bridging unit into Islam another unit I have uploaded as pupils enjoyed this so much, I wrote a full unit on Islam for them for the next term. The PPT has 12 lessons and 53 slides with activities. You can pretty much walk into the room and teach from it, without further resources. Ideal if RS cover teacher or non-specialist too. I have developed a whole unit work from Year 5 up to Year 8 which I am now uploading. These have taken me hundreds of hours so I hope this saves you lots of time. Happy Sunday!
