The PowerPoint is clearly structured with; - Starter tasks to assess prior knowledge, with supporting hand-outs at the end of the PPT. Following lesson starter is a clues word-search (included as an attached word document). - Clear learning objectives and success criteria linked to AQA specification. - Variety of activities and new information to introduce natural hazards and key definitions, with supporting examples. - Main learning task is Internet based reseach and includes a differentiated worksheet for students to complete (on a seperate PPT document included). - Plenary - consolidation and review of learning task.

Coasts

There are three (3) lessons on coasts included in this bundle. One lesson is an introduction lesson on coasts focusing on the features by the coast and the importance of learning about it in schools. The other lesson is on wave and tide formation including a look at the features of a wave. The final lesson is on constructive and destructive waves (including swash and backwash); how they compare and how the affect the coasts differently. All three lessons have all the elements and the resources required to deliver them - starter, learning activities with resources and plenary.

This is a GCSE lesson introducing students to waves. The lesson allows students to discover what are waves and tides and how they form. Key facts about the lesson are: 1. The lesson meets the requirements of the new GCSE specifications. However, it can be adapted for a top set year 9 group. 2. The lesson starts by exploring the features of a wave through the use of diagrams and keywords. It then moves on to look at how waves form. The second half of the lesson focuses on tides and how they form before ending with a challenge task. 3. The lesson is differentiated through the use of images, video clips, keyword banks and diagrams. Students will be engaged and challenged regardless of their level. 4.
