KS4 GCSE Dance: Within Her Eyes 6 Week Delivery PowerPoint and Resources

This KS4 GCSE Dance: Within Her Eyes 6 Week delivery PowerPoint is for teachers of AQA GCSE Dance. It is designed to be taught in the 6th half term of Year 10 (after teaching Emancipation of Expressionism, Artificial Things, Shadows A Linha Curva and Infra) following the advice from AQA. It is to be used with AQA’s resources such as the Within Her Eyes fact file and video links. Within the 6 week delivery PowerPoint there are theory and practical lessons to explore the professional work of Within Her Eyes. Each lesson comes with lesson starters in the form of ‘bell activities’/’Talking Points’ and lesson objectives. Homework tasks and all resources needed for this PowerPoint are included. Although the main theme of this delivery PowerPoint is Within Her Eyes, this SOW also includes teaching the Shift set phrase. Please note that the anthology megamix that is mentioned in the SOW refers to an audio file (included) that is a mix of the music used in all 6 anthology pieces. In my previous SOW (Infra) pupils created a megamix dance that included key motifs from the anthology to help pupils remember them. In this SOW pupils create the last section (Within Her Eyes) – If you have not purchased my KS4 Infra SOW, you can simply use the Within Her Eyes section of the megamix to choreograph a short within Her Eyes piece in isolation from the megamix dance itself. Enjoy!

KS3 Dance Word Bank (Creating, Performing, Evaluating)

KS3 Dance Word Bank (Creating, Performing, Evaluating)

Best printed and laminated for use during performances and evaluation lessons. On one side is a basic word bank for students to choose from (to avoid them repeating the same thing that each group did well or need to improve), and on the other are sentence starters and connectives to develop vocabulary and use of full sentences when evaluating performances in class. Once the students get used to using them I found that performance feedback was much quicker and more valuable. I also have a drama one in my shop.

Colourful Dragon Rhymes - for all ages

Colourful Dragon Rhymes - for all ages

Ideal end-of-term fun for classes of all ages, with scope for physical movement and multi-arts development. Once there was a dragon dressed in red. He liked to stay all day in… - but you can guess the last word, and so can the children, although some may prefer to offer alternatives with other rhyming words. Red is just one example of the numerous colours featuring in these crazy dragon verses, which lend themselves to being enacted, and even sung to a made-up tune, as well as chanted and clapped. Follow on with dragon sketches or try my dragon’s menu for easy, crazy writing fun.

Matilda Poem Mini Script

Matilda Poem Mini Script

A mini script based on the narrative poem ‘Matilda (who told lies and was burned to death)’ by Hilaire Belloc. This pack turns the poem into a mini performance, with the lines of the poem being narrated and broken up using improvised scenes, mime, and short role-plays. It works well with KS1 and KS2, as they enjoy the gruesome nature of it, and can be used as part of an assembly on ‘telling lies’, or to support exploration of narrative poetry. Great for a quick end of term performance for friends and family. If you like this resource, please take a couple of minutes to leave a positive review. Thanks everso!

NEW GCSE Dance Terminology test/quiz

Within the new GCSE Dance specification, the students require a wide range of knowledge which in turn demands the initial understanding of specific terminology with many different catergories address in the specification content, for example physical skills, choreographic devices, aural setting, performance environment, safe practice etc. This powerpoint lists all the categories and topic that are covered in the 40% written component and can be used as a game/quiz as each heading appears first giving time for students to either, call out for points, discuss with partner, or just work independently to formulate a list in response. Great light revision activity for those final days leading up to the written exam.

KS4 AQA GCSE Dance Revision – Component 2: 12 mark questions

KS4 AQA GCSE Dance Revision – Component 2: 12 mark questions

KS4 AQA GCSE Dance Revision – Component 2: 12 mark questions This resource has been designed for teachers of GCSE dance revising the dance anthology in preparation for the written exam. This lesson has been created to provide a way for dance students to revise in a fun and interactive way. There are many ways to use this resource: Make it into a game: print out the 1st slide and cut the boxes out. Pupils can pick the boxes at random and have a go at answering the questions on the second slide. Differentiation: You can pre pick the questions prior to the lesson based on your pupil’s strengths and areas of weakness to challenge your pupils appropriately. Print out the 2nd slide for them with their differentiated question on. Whole class activity: As a class decide on a question to tackle and discuss the question together before allowing the pupils to have a go at writing their answers. Homework revision: Print out the PowerPoint for your pupils to allow them to practice the 12 mark questions at home. Enjoy!

Missing

Missing

Written as an additional solo opportunity to add to the amazing ‘Edith’s Wartime Scrapbook’ written by Mick Riddell and published by ‘Edgy Productions’. (I highly recommend this as an end of term production.) The song works as a stand alone song too for KS2 to tie in with a topic on ‘War.’ Extension activities include creating a piece using a melodic ostinato and writing topical songs and raps.

Anti War Rap with Chorus

Anti War Rap with Chorus

The sung chorus and first verse of a thought provoking song/rap written for a year 6 class to tie in with their topic on W.W.2. The children were amazing creating and performing their own verses and this paved the way for many other musical activities. The activity would be suitable for the whole of K.S.2.

THE GREATEST SHOW! - A PLAY OR CLASS ASSEMBLY! **THIS IS THE CLASS ASSEMBLY THAT CAUGHT THE EYE OF HUGH JACKMAN! HE SENT US A GOOD LUCK MESSAGE! - YOU MAY HAVE SEEN ON THE NEWS! FOLLOW THE LINK BELOW TO SEE MORE OR WATCH US ON THE NEWS ON BBC POINTS WEST 6.6.18 ** https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-gloucestershire-44382007 A class assembly/play for reception, KS1 or even KS2! We did this with a Reception class - they were incredible! It ran alongside our ‘Circus’ theme. We focussed lots on The Greatest Showman and the song ‘This is Me’. I’ve included the script, presentation (which includes all music) and some costume letters to be sent home. I added photos of the children to the slide show which made it even better. The slide show has all been set up and timings suited us. We had such great feedback from this production! I hope you enjoy it! (SEE MAIN IMAGE FOR REAL PREVIEW! -The font and pics look a little weird in the TES preview pics? But it’s actually all done in Comic Sans! I did have it all in pre-cursive, but knew that some schools wouldn’t have this font, so changed it all to Comic Sans. Hopefully it should be in that font when you download!)
