Backboard Icebreaker Communication Game - Small or Large Groups

Backboard Icebreaker Communication Game - Small or Large Groups

Parents, Teachers, Educators... you have located a team game that has engaged everyone who has played it so far. Backboard is more than just a game. It is an opportunity to work together as a team and enhance communication, motor skills, and social pragmatics with your students either as an ice breaker activity in school or family board game at home. The goal of the game is to move your pieces along the journey of the game board and reach the end. While in transient, you will encounter 4 different types of drawing cards. Each type represents a level of increasing difficulty. For each card, there will be a translator [player who describes the card to the drawer] and a transcriber [player who draws the shape]. Each card has a specially engineered shape that the transcriber will have to describe to the drawer. The Drawer will have a specific amount of time to draw that shape. After time expires, the transcriber will match that shape to the translator’s master card. If the shapes match, points will be earned and they will advance.

Snow White Activity Pack

Snow White Activity Pack

A detailed and wide range of activities based on the traditional version of Snow White. This is an overview of a unit of work, which can be used in conjunction with the story or a trip to the pantomime and is most suitable for children from EYFS to lower Key Stage 2, although the ideas may be cherry picked and developed for older pupils. Most of the activities are based in drama, art & technology and literacy, and there are opportunities for outdoor learning which encompass geography and design technology. Included in the pack are background notes on the history and changes to the text since it first appeared in print, suggested further reading and almost unnecessary references to Chris Hemsworth. I have included detailed notes on how I would approach telling the tale to a class as a oral tale - where I would have breaks for discussions and to create tension.

Megamusicals - The Hit British Musicals of the 1980s

Megamusicals - The Hit British Musicals of the 1980s

This resource is intended for KS3 Drama students. It teaches them about the rise of one of the most successful genres of theatre - the Megamusical. Students will learn about the emergence of the sub-genre during the 1980s, as producers such as Cameron Mackintosh and composers such as Andrew Lloyd Webber created iconic musicals such as Cats, Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera. These combined universally appealing stories, catchy songs, creative sets and spectacular special effects into a unique and exciting production, allowing British theatre to reach new heights of commercial success. This resource will prove useful for drama students seeking to learn more about the making of musicals and their impact with audiences all over the globe. It is especially useful for those seeking to learn about staging and set design, as it places particular emphasis on set designers like John Napier, who played a major role in making the Megamusicals stand out by giving them a distinctive visual style which could impress theatregoers throughout the world. The Megamusicals resource contains a Powerpoint, a transcript to be used by both teachers and students, a worksheet containing questions for students, and a sheet containing a unique homework assignment which will allow students to demonstrate their creativity and their understanding of musical and theatrical conventions.
