Animal Classification Colouring/ Activity Sheets

Animal Classification Colouring/ Activity Sheets

This download includes 6 detailed and realistic colouring sheets, drawn by TheArtTA, 1 for each of the areas of animal classification used in primary science, birds, mammals, amphibians, invertebrates, reptiles and fish. There is also a teachers sheet listing the animals featured and possible uses for these sheets within a lesson. For example the range of animals can be a discussion starter, ( Why is a Dolphin on the mammals sheet?), or the pictures can be enlarged to make posters to decorate the classroom and pupils can research the animals featured. More than just a colouring sheet and great for engaging pupils in this topic.

Fossils/Fossilisation Worksheet and Extension Task

Fossils/Fossilisation Worksheet and Extension Task

A fossilisation task differentiated two ways: HA/MA children should order the images and use a word bank to write a description for each stage of the fossilisation process, LA children should complete the paragraphs using the word bank. Also includes an extension activity where children apply their knowledge and understanding of fossils and the fossilisation process to answer test-style questions.

Animal Jeopardy

Animal Jeopardy

Animal Jeopardy is a great way for your class to review your concepts and ideas about animals. The categories covered in this game are mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish, adaptations, food chains, and animal vocabulary. I typically put the class into small groups or individuals and ask a member of the group to choose a color and dollar amount. That is the question that they have to answer. When I get the class to do it individually I get them to put the answers down on a piece of paper and mark them at the end of the game. NEW! I have now introduced a visual point scoring system to keep track of how much money the teams have earned. Simply click on the allocated game board and with each click the amount increases by $100 I run it on an interactive whiteboard but would be equally successful on a projector, computer or TV screen. Alternatively it could be run for an individual student on their own device.

Camouflage: Animal Adaptations - PowerPoint and Activities

Camouflage: Animal Adaptations - PowerPoint and Activities

Learn all about camouflage with this dynamic and animated PPT presentation. It’s a nonfiction resource full of information, photos, illustrations, videos, and fun facts. The presentation is designed for teachers, students, and parents. When it’s over, challenge the kids with some higher-level thinking activities devised to hone problem-solving skills. It works extremely well as an independent reading resource for iPads, iPhones, tablets, etc. The presentation can be read or viewed as an animated digital book. In this informative and engaging PowerPoint presentation you and your children will learn all about… What adaptations are Physical and behavioral adaptations with detailed examples of each Camouflage as a physical adaptation Two purposes of camouflage (to hide while searching for food; to hide to escape from becoming food). How camouflage evolved depending on the type of animal and its habitat Furry mammals employ different types of camouflage than aquatic ones. Four main types of camouflage adaptations Blending in or concealing Coloration – fur, scales, feathers, skin, etc. o Some animals change coloring depending on the seasons o Some can change their coloring quickly depending on their surroundings (chameleons, octopus, etc.) Disruptive coloration – stripes, spots, patterns, etc. Disguise, or appear like something else (walking stick, leafy sea dragon) Mimicry, some animals mimic different or more dangerous animals (some nonpoisonous snakes look like poisonous ones, some moths have designs on their backs that look like large eyes, etc.) Interesting facts and much more When the presentation is over have your kids expand on what they’ve learned with three higher-level thinking activities. Ecosystems (Rainforest) 10 lessons- SEN, ASD

This is a collection of 10 lessons I made for Science- Biology- Ecosystems (focusing on the rainforest). Including an assessment at the end. Brief overview: 1-Introduction to the rainforest- climate of the rainforest 2- Climate of the rainforest- the equator 3-Introduction to ecosystems- why animals and plants need each other 4- Food chains and food webs 5- Predators and prey of the rainforest 6-Animal adaptations 7-Plants of the rainforest 8-Plant adaptations 9-Animal research 10- End of topic assessment A brief SOW, including description of the lesson activities is included, all powerpoints for every lesson, objectives, and worksheets to go along with them. I’ve used symbol communication in all of the powerpoints and most worksheets to aid understanding for SEN & ASD students or students with low level literacy skills. This was originally made for a year 7 & 8 class, with Year 1, year 2 and year 3 levels in literacy, so the resources aren’t too wordy and what they need to do is made really clear.

Endangered animals and conservation issues

Endangered animals and conservation issues

I have bundled together ten resources which focus on endangered animals and conservation issues . Polar bears, sea turtles and albatrosses all face particular problems in our seas and oceans. These resources take a look at these creatures and how they are adapted to their natural environment and what steps we must take in order for them to survive in greater numbers. The problem of plastic waste is a recurring theme in several of these resources. This bundle includes quizzes, comprehensions , poetry and puzzles which will engage pupils and inspire them to do their own independent research. Suitable for ages 7 and upwards.

Free Sample of Education Guru's Progression & Assessment Tracker KS2 Knowledge

Free Sample of Education Guru's Progression & Assessment Tracker KS2 Knowledge

If you want to see what Education Guru's progression & Assessment Tracker for knowledge looks like before you buy it, then this free resource should give you a taster. Have a go at filling in some of your children's data to see how the grid number crunches the data. It also shows you how the NC objectives for Science fit into the statutory Teacher Assessments for Science which are in bold at the start of each grid. This makes it easy for the Year 2 and Year 6 teachers report on each child's progress. This assessment tool also allows you to identify which objectives need more work through the columns at the bottom of each table, as it reports on how many children have achieved the objective and how many need some more input. As the grid passes up with the cohort it allows the next teacher to identify which areas need more work and allows them to identify where an individual may need more support. The example shows just one biology teacher assessment for Key stage 2 . The full resource for Knowledge is spilt into Key stage 1 or Key stage 2 pack or they can be bought as a bundle. There is also a tracking system for the Working Scientifically Teacher Assessments which follows the same format. When you purchase the Tracking systems the full instructions are included.
