Fractions Investigation KS2

Fractions Investigation KS2

These resources are designed to explore the following areas: Equivalent fractions Adding fractions Fractions in a whole number You could also use them to explore percentages and ratio They can be used in a variety of ways and are differentiated as the number of parts in the shapes in each image varies. Activities that could be set using this resource might include. Asking the students to find different fractions of the shape eg 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 then discussing how many parts make up each fraction (equivalent fractions) Inviting the students to make patterns using different colours then identify what fraction they have coloured. Add them up and discuss how they have made a whole. I’m sure you can think of more. This is my first upload of a resource so please leave feedback. I will be interested to hear your thoughts.

Introduction to Ratio - a full lesson

Introduction to Ratio - a full lesson

Mastery maths. The slides can be used on whiteboards to prompt the route the lesson takes. The video explains how I would teach the lesson including relevant questions to ask etc. The focus is on understanding of the key concepts of equivalent ratios and what a ratio is. Loads of scope for extending and making this your own. Hope you find it useful.
