Outdoor Learning - Using your Senses

Outdoor Learning - Using your Senses

This lesson plan is a comprehensive lesson plan for how to use your senses in the Great Outdoors. I have used this as a stand-alone lesson with a group of 8 & 9-year-olds. It can be adapted to suit any age group and of course can be changed to suit the needs of the group. I used a variety of learning strategies to develop curiosity and overall interest. It seemed to work! More information can be found on www.garethmate.com

If Feelings were Sounds... Emotions Metaphor Poem Frame for Yrs 5-7, with examples

If Feelings were Sounds... Emotions Metaphor Poem Frame for Yrs 5-7, with examples

This sheet combines poetry-writing with emotional outlets, supporting Literacy and PSHE simultaneously. If sadness, happiness, excitement, and one emotion to choose, were sounds, what would they be? Suggestions are provided on the Example Sheet, which will support teacher and pupils alike, also offering prompts for a warm-up discussion about feelings and what they’re like. This resource would support anti-bullying drives and other social issues, as well as providing openings for maturing children and teens to explore and share their own feelings and moods. The metaphors invited will stretch creative writing techniques at the same time. Encourage embellishments, such as adjectives and onomatopoeia.

Classroom Rules - Colour In {Editable}

Classroom Rules - Colour In {Editable}

Remind your students of classroom rules in a fun and engaging way! Not only will you be creating an inviting learning environment, but you will be helping them process and understand the rules using visual and kinesthetic learning styles. These ‘colour in’ classroom rules are a mix of inspirational and practical – creating a positive learning environment, alongside rules to ensure the smooth-running of your classroom. Use them on display boards, doors or uninviting areas of your classroom, for example, a brick wall area. Once coloured by students, they will create a stunning visual display! I would recommend markers to ensure the colour really pops! There are 30 rules in total. An editable file is included to allow you to add whatever rules best suit your specific needs or age group. Invite students to collaborate, so they feel involved in the process. CONTENT • Cover • Classroom Rules x 30 • Editable File • TOU/Credits PAGE COUNT: 23

The Brick: Going Too Fast to Care - An assembly for Primary schools

This Assembly from Mirror Assemblies is one of their series for Changes (SEAL Theme) and looks how one incident can make someone who is very busy, change their view. It considers whether the action used for drawing attention in this story is effective or if there might have been other options. The children are encouraged to think about times when they have been too busy to see how others might need their help or care. IMPORTANT The license for using this assembly in your own class is £3, but if you wish to use this resource for a whole school assembly you will need to purchase the school license. PSHE lesson plan- words can hurt

PSHE lesson plan- words can hurt

This is a tried and tested lesson plan for KS2 (but can also work for KS1) about how unkind words can have a lasting effect. At first reading it seems a little cheesy but I’ve used it with some pretty streetwise Y6 pupils and they loved it! The focus is on empathy and understanding the lasting damage a throwaway phrase or action ccan have on people. Hope you and your pupils enjoy the lesson and if they do why not let others know by leaving a review? Sample Pages For The Trouble With Young People Today... Play Script

A short extract from the play The Trouble With Young People Today… a simple but effective one act play which explores the issues of self-confidence, peer pressure, and just saying no. This is a powerful play to perform and would work well as a performance to a younger audience. These sample pages give you a taster of what the play is like and allow you to try before you buy! The Little Hummingbird - Changes

The Little Hummingbird - Changes

This Primary School Assembly is suitable for the whole Primary age range but is specifically aimed at 5-9 age groups. It was written to support the Changes theme from the SEAL Materials but is suitable to fit with other general assembly themes about changes, feelings of being lost and the need to keep safe. It explores how experiences such as “getting lost” make us and those around us change, and how it helps us to see things from other people’s perspectives. In this story the Hummingbird becomes distracted and becomes separated from his parents. It explores the feelings associated with feeling “lost”. The Hummingbird at the end of the story has become a little wiser IMPORTANT The license for using this assembly in your own class is £3, but if you wish to use this resource for a whole school assembly you will need to purchase the school license. Exploring News Headlines Through Drama

Exploring News Headlines Through Drama

This is a great unit of work for KS2 and KS3 pupils which uses drama to explore the stories behind newspaper headlines. It focuses on creating story, looking at pivotal moments, exploring character and feelings, reporting, representing and recording news items. The scheme is presented as one long unit but can easily be divided into shorter lessons. Drama methods include freezes, improvisation, interviews, hotseating and presentations. It’s also great for stimulating creative writing activities and mini presentations. Simple Scripted Duologue

Simple Scripted Duologue

A great little original script for two people which can be used for improvisation, role play, characterisation work, script annotating or writing, or for exploring PSHE issues. Younger pupils can simply write the rest of the scene, the preceding scene, or the following scene. Older pupils can add cut-away scenes and develop the extract into a whole play. I’ve used it with KS2 and KS3 students and they’ve all created something different from it! If you found this resource useful, please take a minute to leave a positive review. Thanks everso!

Matilda Poem Mini Script

Matilda Poem Mini Script

A mini script based on the narrative poem ‘Matilda (who told lies and was burned to death)’ by Hilaire Belloc. This pack turns the poem into a mini performance, with the lines of the poem being narrated and broken up using improvised scenes, mime, and short role-plays. It works well with KS1 and KS2, as they enjoy the gruesome nature of it, and can be used as part of an assembly on ‘telling lies’, or to support exploration of narrative poetry. Great for a quick end of term performance for friends and family. If you like this resource, please take a couple of minutes to leave a positive review. Thanks everso!
