Autumn Slow Cooker Soup

Autumn Slow Cooker Soup

I used this recipe with my classes regularly at various times - the slow cooker used was at the back of the room safely. Sometimes for various themes including Harvest, bonfire night, autumn or winter, literacy instruction writing and sequencing, measuring and counting and sometimes linked to the story 'Stone soup'. It was great for Healthy eating PSHE links and DT links with cooking as well. It makes enough for all the kids to have a taste (1/3 of a cup each....some obviously loved it and some didn't but gave them a chance to try something new. I used to send a copy of the recipe home too so parents knew what we were cooking and also the kids who liked it had a copy.

The Sustainable Farming Challenge

The Sustainable Farming Challenge

This powerpoint takes pupils through a series of choices where they spend money on upgrading their farm. At the end of each 'year' the pupils work out how much profit they have made and how sustainable they have been. They do this using paper money, a 'sustainability meter' (coloured lightly in pencil), and adding notes to their sheet. The amounts of money are quite high (you may need to print a lot depending on class size). And the maths can get a bit tricky (though key stage 3 coped fine with a calculator). Used during an IDL day on sustainability. This is easily adaptable in terms of the situations, amount of money, options, calculations etc. I welcome any feedback. Thanks.
