FRENCH BACK TO SCHOOL EUROPE POSTERS

FRENCH BACK TO SCHOOL EUROPE POSTERS

My students have always really enjoyed having these posters in the classroom - they’re ideal as a lively back to school decoration, and they’re really useful as an instant and comprehensive introduction to EUROPE! There are 72 posters (8.5 x 11) in FRENCH showing EUROPEAN countries, capital cities and flags. They give your classroom a great multicultural look and feel, at the same time promoting FRENCH as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of your - and your students’ - classroom. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the posters can help students develop their general knowledge and understanding of EUROPEAN GEOGRAPHY. I’ve included a range of islands, such as the FAROE ISLANDS, to extend students’ knowledge of EUROPE a little, and I’ve also shown some countries, for example ARMENIA, that are often classed as belonging either to EUROPE or to ASIA. I’ve also included two posters for some countries, such as FRANCE, officially known as RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE - you can choose either that, or the more frequently-used LA FRANCE to display. The posters look great displayed horizontally across a particular learning area - alphabetically works well, though non-alphabetically is perfect for a country quest activity! They’re ideal for the annual EUROPE DAY celebration, and THE EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES, as well as an all year round display. Laminate for longevity - you’ll be able to display the posters for years to come! I’ve classed the posters as suitable for age 11-18, as it really does depend on when your students began FRENCH, and what kinds of classroom decor is most useful for them at any particular time. The resource consists of a single, non-editable file; please read the TERMS OF USE carefully - the resource is copyright, and for single-classroom / teacher / purchaser use only. MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BON VOYAGE !

Ma personnalité - Card Game

Ma personnalité - Card Game

This game is a French version of the classic " I have… Who has …? " game, designed to practice asking and answering basic questions (name, age, nationality, family, siblings, pets, preferences etc) This is an easy-to-play game and a great way to practice essential language concepts with the whole class. As students match up the answers on their cards with questions on other students’ cards, they get valuable practice with vocabulary, as well as reading and listening skills. Directions: Cut out the cards along the dotted line and laminate. For bigger classes, you might want to print several copies of each set. Give out all the cards in the set to the students. It is important to use all the cards. Choose a student to go first. I usually do that by a counting rhyme. Have the selected student read the question at the bottom of the card aloud and then put the card down. The student who has the card with the answer then reads that answer aloud. This student will then read the question at the bottom of their card and put the card down. Play continues in this fashion until all of the cards have been played. The game will end with the same student who started play. Every card in the set is connected to a card before it and a card after it. To keep the game moving at a quick pace, all students need to pay attention to every question that has been asked. I tell my younger students that this is a magic game and that the magic only works if you pay attention, which is actually true. The magic happens in the end, when the question on the last card actually matches the answer on the very first card. Enjoy!
