It is specifically targeted at engaging Year 1 students and bringing History to life for them. * Teachers’ Guide The teachers’ guide includes step-by-step instructions to using the online resource. All you will need to know about using the online resource is provided in this guide. The code and registration details are provided in this guide too. * BLM Activity Sheets Photocopiable BLM activity sheets which link to the online content are included in this package. Originally created for our popular BLM ‘Australian History Series Book 1: Family Life’, these activity pages have been modified for this package. Students can complete the activities after viewing the online content. All of the activity sheets have been carefully created to meet the requirements of the Australian Curriculum. Online Classroom brings Year 1 History to life. The curriculum-linked topics include: * Family Roles and Structures: The first section encourages the students to explore family structures and roles in the recent past and in the present, and examine how they have changed and/or stayed the same. This section also gives students the opportunity to look at family structures in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies. * Expressing Time: The second section is designed to help students express time. A KS1 power-point of 14 slides which can be used as one lesson or extended over a longer period. There is a warm up, two activities and a final writing task. Included are examples of 2 invitations (birthday and Halloween party) for pupils to use in the lesson to spot the key features and help Lei correct his invitation (because no one has replied!). There are key questions to promote discussion and paired work. Also included is a simple invitation template for pupil use. Pupils can also use the important information/checklist to give paired feedback after writing their own invitation. 2. Halloween history and customs lesson of 34 slides. How to write a horror story A KS2 power-point of 19 slides which can be used as one lesson or extended over a longer period. Included are examples of 2 short horror stories (not too scary!) for pupils to use in the lesson to analyse against a Horror story features checklist. There are key questions to promote discussion and paired work. Also included is a simple planning and drafting grid.
