Growth Mindset presentation (Enrichment)

Growth Mindset presentation (Enrichment)

Growth Mindset Enrichment presentation This presentation has 56 slides and contains 14 videos, which are all embedded (EXCEPT THE VIDEO THAT EMBEDS ON SLIDE 55 AS IT MADE THE FILE TOO LARGE, EVEN AFTER COMPRESSING, SO THIS VIDEO HAS BEEN INCLUDED AS A SEPARATE FILE FOR YOU TO RE-EMBED) into the presentation and play full-screen automatically. AIMS Understand what a growth mindset is Understand the plasticity of the brain Encourage students to take ownership of their learning Develop R & I (Resourcefulness and Initiative) Understand and develop grit Push yourself beyond comfort zone to take on new challenges Learn to not fear mistakes, learn from them (Growth Mindset) This power point is suitable for delivery as part of a whole school CPD, department CPD, or, as part of enrichment week, delivered to a whole year group. The presentation lasts between 1 ½ -2 hours, depending on how familiar you are with the Growth Mindset and how much you elaborate on each slide. The presentation contains a section where the students are asked to draw a self-portrait using their current technique, then again under the expert tuition of a YouTube artist, so they can see the instant impact better techniques have. You can see me going over the PowerPoint on my YouTube channel “gcsephysicsexplained”: [Link][https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMapEUiWYrs&t=24s&list=PLjs3KMU7zKeh6TQlEA7csA9knbtiCCAcH&index=3] I follow up the presentation by giving a questionnaire to the students (attached as a download). The presentation gets great feedback, mostly saying how inspired the students feel to take responsibility for their own learning, and how they wish someone had told them about the growth mindset and the plasticity of the brain earlier. Kind regards Matthew Obee

Emotion TEACHING Card Set

Emotion TEACHING Card Set

The Emotion TEACHING Cards are a set of bright, colorful cards that are designed to help children identify emotions that are positive, in-between and negative. This set comes with two instruction and idea cards for teachers, and then six cards for each of the three emotions. Each emotion set is represented by a different color and comes with:\ an intro card that explains how that emotion makes you feel and a matching ocean reference a card that shows photographs of faces that represent the emotion a card that points out the facial features of the emotion a card that presents a vocabulary for the emotion a card that says what you might do when experiencing that emotion a card that suggests appropriate forms of action for each emotion These cards were designed to support children with Autism, who may have trouble identifying their own feelings, or recognising the feelings of others just by looking at their facial expression. Over time, these cards could assist children to associate the expressions they’ve seen on the cards, with the faces of those they are interacting with. They are meant to be cut out, assembled and fastened with a lanyard or ring, so that they can be either worn by parents or teachers, or be hung up in a place where children are able to access them when they need to. This card set beautifully compliments the How Am I Feeling Right Now? poster and the How Do I Feel? Emotion Cards that I also have listed. (The cards shown in preview are only SOME of the complete set you will receive on download) Thank you for shopping at LittlePeopleLove! This colorful, engaging poster was designed especially for children with Autism, but it would also be helpful to all children when displayed in classrooms, particularly in the junior year levels. It includes groups of emotions based words and matches them with a child’s facial expression and a photo of the ocean, that reflects how they might be feeling on the inside. Fantastic as a teaching tool for when children are in a calm and relaxed state, then progresses to an emotional diagnostic tool for children when they’re having feelings that they are unable to express verbally. Neurodiversity Strengths Checklist - useful for SEND and INCLUSION departments

Neurodiversity Strengths Checklist - useful for SEND and INCLUSION departments

Psychometric and neurocognitive assessments are important when assessing need. But what about individual strengths? My background is in neuroscience although I also work as an Assistant SENCo within my local school. I wanted to design a useful tool so assessing neurocognitive strengths would be easy for individuals without a neuroscience background. Once these are found then designing bespoke intervention becomes an easier task. While some neurodiversities can make certain tasks more difficult, they can equally be of benefit in other areas. Neurodiverse minds have a great many strengths and schools need various tools to help them recognise what they are for each individual. The NSC is a non-diagnostic tool that can help professionals working in schools identify where the neurodiverse strengths are for each individual student. Neurodiversity assumes everyone everywhere has neurodiverse strengths. The ethos behind the NSC is that it is down to each professional within every school to do everything reasonably possible to search for these strengths and attempt to develop them in a proactive and positive way in order to develop the students learning abilities. I hope people find it useful.

Behavior Calendar

Behavior Calendar

►What’s Included?◄ You will receive a behavior calendar (in PDF format), which can be reproduced for all of the students in your class. Only one calendar is needed for the entire school year. ►How to Use◄ A behavior calendar is a behavior tracking tool that offers an alternative to the time-intensive behavior charts that are commonly utilized in classrooms today. A few factors that make this behavior calendar so practical include: -This calendar provides a list of inappropriate behaviors and common locations, as well as a key for each of these items, allowing you to quickly and efficiently track the behaviors of each of your students. -Behavior charts that utilize a color system to indicate inappropriate behaviors (for example, a green color indicates “great” behavior, yellow indicates “needs improvement,” and red indicates “bad” behavior) often do not provide enough details regarding behaviors that need improvement. Younger children may forget or be unwilling to tell their parents exactly what negative behaviors they engaged in when only a color or vague description is provided. This behavior calendar provides specific feedback to parents and children, which allows more efficient communication between parents and teachers. Additionally, it provides more detailed RTI data for teachers regarding students who engage in frequent inappropriate behaviors and the locations that those behaviors commonly occur. -If a clip-down or color system is utilized to track behaviors, this calendar can be adapted to include this data. Teachers can allow students to fill in their color at the end of the day, in addition to the details provided by the calendar key. -Because this calendar is labeled by weeks instead of months, teachers only need to print one sheet and make enough copies for each of their students to last the entire school year. This eliminates the hassle of printing out a different calendar each month. ► Terms of Use ◄ This artwork is copyrighted by Roots To Growth. This purchase is strictly for non-commercial use only. You may print and use in your home, business, or public place but may not resell, reproduce, distribute by electronic means or profit in any way from the design. Unlimited amount of copies can be made for your personal use.

Pokemon style bug inspectors (Alternative Education)

This resource has been created with hard to reach young people in mind. These resources have been used at The Island Project as part of vocational learning as a way of engaging young people who struggled with ADHD, Autism, SEMH and challenging behaviour. Most learners who attend our project are also struggling academically and therefore these materials are designed to allow tutors to scale the difficultly as desired. Differentiation is essential naturally with all sessions geared towards alternative learning for this criterion of young people. This project has been particularly successful when embedded with gardening sessions, ICT sessions as well as social skills building sessions. The idea behind this session plan is to encourage young people to explore and role play (optional) in an adventure just like Ash Ketchum the main character in the popular Pokemon series. Exploring the nearby nature find bugs and catch them with the intention of observing them and making key comparisons against Pokemon. Worksheets involve making posters and creating your own Pokedex to record your findings. Additonal challenges encourage young people to go above and beyond to achieve extra rewards. The beauty is not all young people have to enjoy Pokemon to engage in this session, being interested in bugs, mini beasts and insects in general is also perfect! This session will embed being outdoors, writing opportunities, computer skills development, research skills as well as social interaction.
