Density, volume, and weight: comparison and calculation . Gallery walk Sci/Math
This was one of the best review density lessons I did with my middle school science class on how the density of a material doesn't change no matter the size or weight it has. It was also a good way to tie into and review finding the volume of a rectangular prism.

Directions
Print out the 7 slides from the powerpoint hang on wall or use at stations.

Each slide provides the density for each 2 metals. (students copy this down)

They then find out the metal type using the key on the student handout sheet.

Each slide has 2 different size cubes on it, students must find the volume for each cube using the measurements provided.

Once finding the volume for the cube, students must then find out how much it would weigh using the density of the metal from the slide.

Then they must decide if the metals where both melted which one would float on the other. Or for the slide that is the same metal just different size cubes that they have the same density.

There are 3 followup questions on density to get them thinking.
I didn't let my students use calculators for this activity and we reviewed and discussed the answers as a class at the end.
